Default [US] Mushi-Shi

Meant to do this the other day...as close of a word for word as I can get.

Question: In the Anime Source pamphlet that has come out with releases in the past, there has been a number of show that were listed as coming soon to Blu-ray such as Mushi-Shi, Blue Gender, xxxHOLiC, Black Cat, and Desert Punk. Nothing has been said about them since then. Are they still planning to release the show on Blu-ray?

Answer: Unfortunately they are not. The printing of this (of that) pamphlet was done so well in advance. We were still working on Blu-ray items and last details for those. And with that we though the stuff looks good. Licensors want to work with us. Everything is working great. And then we were discovering multiple different things for multiple different shows like materials not available or materials weren't something we can up res. Or for different reasons they are just as much as we wanted to make a Blu-ray, we are just not able to to. Those titles will not have Blu-rays currently. Maybe something magical will happen down the road. But for right now, they are on hiatus...

Taken from here. Listing originated from FUNimation's Anime Source inside the release of D.Gray-man: Season 1, Part 1 (BD)...the release date (as always) is subjected to change.

A title that would really benefit from lossless audio. Should I even hope for this?

The Japanese BD was an upscale so there's not much of a point to look forward to this since the PQ is probably going to be crap.

I'd be interested in this. The Japanese release seemed to look pretty good for an upscale. Fuzzy, but not a lot of aliasing artifacts:

Though as with Funimation's other releases, if it's an in-house upscale I'll pass.

Beautiful show but will be an upscale like mentioned.
Should look better than the R1 DVD's though but not really worth it for me.
Nice to see FUNi really getting into the Blu-ray format though.

It would be nicer if they got their acts together imo. Too many potential releases are being "ruined" by them again.

Another maybe as I own the singles w/artbox. I may still double dip especially if the price is right and/or the review is favorable.

I'm sticking with my gorgeous art box and singles. I have a feeling that Funi is going to mess this up, and the Japanese upscale isn't that amazing to begin with. I just don't see a reason to buy upscaled anime on BD, unless the audio is really notches abopve the DVD.
