So today I got the fourth volume of Sunshine Sketch and have already finished. Yes, I know, but it's a case of two things. First, I had it on pre-order for a long time and it was a long wait. Second, it's a classic case of just one more page.
Over all an enjoyable volume and hopefully we'll be getting 5+ as well. I wonder what volume Japan is up to. As per usual, I will start up a spoiler sub thread thread so we can talk about things more freely in regards to stuff in volume 4 and earlier if need be. On a final note, I like some of the new characters introduced. Now to start that thread.

The first thing I'd like to mention is that the special focused on how Natsume met Sae and learned of the competition known as Hiro was kind of nice to have. Poor girl, not only does she have strong competition, she's just making things harder for herself.
It's nice to have everyone move upgrade, but that means Hiro and Sae are one year closer to graduating. Hopefully the manga will keep going even after those two graduate and they'll still interact with the others. Yuno's English is fun. I especially like the part where she goes "Stew" and then starts naming the ingredients in English. I can almost hear it now. Nori and Nazuna both look like they'll be wonderful additions to the series. Nazuna is especially luck that Nori came to the apartments at the same time. She needs support from someone of the same year. Arisawa was pretty awesome and her time spent with Yuno was nice. We need to see more of her. Also, Yuno is in front of the Naughty Apartments. Mole Girl (I wish had a name for her) and Mami both deserve more focus. Maybe a short story dedicated to them. It's always good to be reminded as to why this is one of my favorite manga ever. Even among other 4 Koma. Which I tend to gravitate towards because I have a liking for comic strips.

I can't read anything you've posted here until I get my own copy and have read it. Hopefully this weekend.

Oh wow, I'm not even a quarter through and it's seriously reminding me just how perfect an adaption the anime is of the manga. It's strange reading the manga version just a week or two after seeing the anime version of the very same story, but it gives me something else to laugh about, not just the manga itself.
Selfish plug here, but I couldn't help noticing a similarity between the fourth panel on one page and my own caption competition image. ![]()

It seems like something got on the roller drums, every few pages on my copy have several square impressions in the page that are about a millimeter in size. I don't know what to make of it, I don't think I've seen anything like it before.

Yeah, over all the anime has been an effective and interesting adaptation. Plus supposedly some of the content in the anime is original and that said content flows well with everything else. As opposed to feeling like it was forced in.

Read this volume last night.
Thought it was really good and nice to see things continuing onwards. (I expect I'll probably read it again tonight too ) |

An interesting change of pace for this one. Not quite sure what to make of the new arrivals just yet; I hope they get more individual focus later, although that comes at the cost of the others, I guess. Yuno-sempai is strange to ponder, although still very cute. The Yoshinoya insanity was going at full power this time... The Natsume story was nice, although I wish it had been a bit longer. Sort of hard to imagine somebody feeling negative about Hiro. On the whole, very good.

It is, but I suppose having her as your rival provides motivation.

I finally got this yesterday. Nori and Nazuna appear to fit right in. I liked Nori telling Miyako "You're a strange girl."
Best part of the manga for me: Yoshinoya in a China dress. And she gets two panels to show it off. Also, for some reason, her thigh says "Ah." Oh, I did notice a couple of "spellchecker" typos. Extra words left in panels that shouldn't have been there. I'm at work and don't have the book with me, so I can't point them out right now. But you know the type of mistake I'm talking about. Nothing is misspelled, but extra words like "to" appear for no reason, probably a result of an incomplete cut-and-paste while editing the dialogue.
