Automatically. The receipt actually rang up as "ANIME - ANIME: SPEC ED VALUE" However, there wasn't another barcode placed above the regular one. So it looks like the actual item was repriced, not just recoded. The only thing that was different was the pricing sticker in the corner of the package.

I'm not sure how Best Buy's pricing works, so I don't know if this may have been a corporate authorized repricing, or if was something like a manager special.

The prices in the register have to be set by the corporate office. Though they can be specific to certain regions or categories. For instance, you can't pay for Magnolia products at a store that does not have a Magnolia location inside it. Local stores can only adjust the price through an override.

It showed up as $9.99 at my store in Fairfax, VA as well. It's a white sticker that says "Anime Spec ED Value". And the clerk at the register manually punched in the 10% for RZ members of 10% off DVDs coupon, so I grabbed one for myself and one for a friend at $8.99 each.

This is interesting. Perhaps this is Best Buy's new way of clearing overstocked anime titles without having to have a large sale.

I'll be keeping an eye out as well.

All the stores here in the Northeast Florida have 5-7 copies each at $9.99. Hopefully these have fixed volume 2s, otherwise I'm expecting some returns and a mess once again. Although if Bandai was smart, they've purged those discs from existence by now.

My closest store had 10+ copies of this. It's definitely B&M only. It has a unique UPC label as well. I picked one up to house the second season.
