Post ASOS Brigade Goes To Bang Zoom

The promotional campaign for the second season of the Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya is continuing right along and the ASOS Brigade has a new video out today as the characters visit Bang Zoom Entertainment. The question about who would be playing the parts is cleared up nicely on this visit as we learn that the original cast from season one will be returning to reprise the primary character roles...

Ditto.

While stranger and stupider things have happened, if Bandai had decided to go a different route with dubbing the new episodes, it would have created the usual fan outrage, but one that might have actually resulted in lower sales. Considering this is a title that is only going to sell to anime fans, no company these days can afford to turn off several hundred potential buyers, when even just those few hundred could be the difference between profit and loss.

Did you watch the first one? They're all new, and Cristina Vee replaced her.

So why the secrecy?

Why didn't they say "Hey! The original cast will be reprising their roles!" or "We expect to bring back the original cast to reprise their roles." when they did that first video?

Hell, they dropped that it would be coming out as a complete collection, so why not dub cast details?

Instead they executed a wonderfully stupid campaign that ended up freaking the dub fans out, and then they just ignored the issue until they actually had contracts in hand.

I suppose this could have been part of the negotiations with BZ, to let them know if they didn't play ball, the dub would go elsewhere. There is no reason to involve the fans in that, though.

Stupid Bandai can be very stupid.

It's time to graduate from here. But there's still some business left.
The only thing better than anime is sports. Get hit hard and you got JACKED UP! Or else it's a C'mon Man!

That is assuming that this was a well-thought out and planned campaign from the beginning. Which, personally, I think, would be a mistaken assumption to operate under.

The R1 companies have never been known for their marketing prowess. This is just another example of it. Nothing more.
