The Review!
Try asking yourself this question: What is the most violent and gorey anime title you have ever seen? Chances are your going to say something like Ninja Scroll or Vampire Hunter D. But after you view Apocalypse Zero, your answer will change.

Audio: Pretty standard Dolby 2.0. Can't complain. Actually sounds pretty good.

Video: It looks it's age. Hard to beleive that such a title would be created in 1995 with so much explict content. Some minor grain here and there, but it shouldn't bother you that much.

Packaging: Looks great. Love the blood splatter on the cover with a sweet picture of Zero in the backround. Cheers to Media Blasters.

Menus: Their okay. Nothing to brag about. Just standard motionless menus.

Extras: Normally I would give a disc with only an image gallery a D, but after taking a look at the gallery, it actually had some nice artwork. Not just VHS covers, but some scenes that weren't included in AZ.

Content: Like gore? Like violence? Like nudity? Well, if you throw all these together in a blender for 90 minutes your either going to get one rancid smoothee or Apocalypes Zero.

Okay, I won't lie to you. AZ is all gore-candy. Thats the whole point to watching it. The show does have a plot and I respect it for that, but how can you not gawk at a 1000 pound woman sucking off a guys face? Basically, there are going to be two kinds of reactions from people who watch this. They are either going to say "Eww, gross" or "Eww, gross. Ha Ha Ha!". Either you love it or you hate it.

For me, I love it. The characters designs are all very wacky and cartoonish, yet they still maintain some sense of reality. The story is about Harara and Kakugo. These who were trained by their father to use a special kind of armor that can be used to kill demons. Kakugo acquires Zero and Harara acquires Kasumi. However, Harara soons reveals that she (or is a he?) is part demon. Because of this, she can use the demons of Earth at her disposal. So, naturally, she sends them all after Kakugo since he is the only thing standing in his way.

So, overall, if you wanna make your freinds laugh or barf or just stare with their jaw hanging out, AZ is one gore fest you won't wanna miss. If your not afraid to say "I love gore, senseless violence and nudity", go on out and buy AZ. If your the kind of person who cringes at the very mention of that last sentence, go out and rent some "normal" anime.
