Should be fun.
Is Conan O'Brien back helping with the script?
Did they lock the voice actors in a room with a microphone and tell them "have fun, do whatever you want, make it funny, and we'll make a movie out of it"? Did the producers read the script, laugh hysterically, and then agree not to tamper with it so that we could enjoy the same entertaining laugh they did?

I hope that I laugh myself off the seat when I see this film. Here's crossing my fingers.

That’s it. I’ve had it. “The Simpsons” isn’t funny anymore. This season, save for the Ricky Gervais episode, has been by far the show’s worst. I watched the last aired episode (April 2nd) hoping it would be funny. It was some crap about a football stadium or, oh who the hell cares? It was boring. This show died a long time ago and now Fox is dragging its decaying corpse out on national television to be shaken in front of the cameras on a broom handle like some vile rotting puppet. “The Simpsons” has become everything it used to satirize back in the Stone Age when it was good, smart comedy. Does anyone remember those days? Do the show’s writers remember those days? I once saw a recent episode where Marge was worried that her kids were growing up too fast. Back when this was a good show, they would have jokingly acknowledged the fact that no one on this show has aged a day for damn near two decades! And now they want to make a movie out of this? The teaser is a joke, and not a funny one. What makes me angry is that when they play this teaser in the theatres near where I live, I just know people will laugh at that run-of-the-mill nonsense. “Oh, it’s not ‘Superman,’ it’s ‘The Simpsons!’ Brilliant!” This kind of teaser is yet another pathetic “misleading” movie ad that bad comedies employ all the time. Remember that Scooby-Doo movie? The teaser for that movie did the same damn thing only with Batman instead of Superman. Anyone who’s seen both teasers knows what I’m talking about. So many movie ads do this, and it’s pathetic. Not only that, but once upon a time “The Simpsons” would have made fun of how pathetic this is, and now they’re joining in. The plot of the movie really sounds like yet another episode. A better plot, to me anyway, would involve the Simpsons going on a “Heart of Darkness”-like trek to Fox Studios to murder all the people who allowed the show to become what it currently is. Yeah, I know this plot needs some work, but I think

(Continued from previous post.) Yeah, I know this plot needs some work, but I think it could be funny. Now yes, I realize that I’m bitching about a twenty-nine second teaser for a movie that probably hasn’t even begun filming yet. Yes, I know I have no right to pass judgment on a movie before having seen it, but if the show’s (and teaser’s) current level of quality is indicative of what the movie’s will be, then we’re in for a pretty bland silver screen outing. Now, if anyone involved with this movie actually happens to read this (yes, I know they won’t) then please, for the love of God, PROVE ME WRONG AND MAKE A GREAT MOVIE! I know I can just turn off the show and I know I don’t have to see the movie, but if we continue to be so passive in the face of what is frankly crap, then crap is what we’ll continue to get. Crap from television, from movies, from books, from each other, and so on, until our brains are effectively turned to mush and we allow even the most pedestrian hogwash to last for more than ten seasons. Oh what the hell am I talking about? It’s already happened!

I stopped watching the Simpsons about 10 years ago. That statement in and of itself seems a bit ridiculous - but then you take a look at how long this show has been churning along and... well... not too ridiculous no?

You'd figure Groening, et al. would get sick of of their creation no? Granted, they did create the (far, FAR superior) "Futurama" - but God forbid that didn't have instant Simpsons numbers so Fox decides to can the series (as they have done to oh-so-many great shows).

Anyway, this movie has everything working against it. They really should've have ended the show at least after 7-8 seasons and maybe, *maybe* had a feature length film to cap it all off. Now we're just beating the horse further...

I sense some level of anti-simpson here. I can't put my finger on it.

I quite watching the simpsons long ago also, but I think the movie might not be that bad, because they are going to be able to go places where the show could not go. Kinda like Beavis and butthead do america and South Park, Bigger Better, and Uncut.

I would give the movie a chance.

The Simpsons is just as funny as it ever was. I'm going to be first in line along with all the youngin's and people my age who started watching this when they were in high school (hey, I graduated in '90...the Simpsons was big). No anti-sentiment here.

LOVE the show and it is STILL good. Granted not as good as it was 6 years ago but still heads above Family Guy. The football stadium episode was funny. The show has chnaged, of course it has. You cannot remain the same and be on the air this long. This season is the best season we have had in the last 3, so enjoy it. I for one am looking forward to the movie.
