Arad Talks Marvel Movies

Comics2Filmcaught up with Marvel Studios CEO Avi Arad to discuss the progress of many ofMarvel's films currently in production.

Arad, who flewfrom the Southern California set of Daredevil to supervise work onThe Hulk, spoke about his faith in the directors of Marvel'sstring of successful comic adaptations. Arad likened finding the right directorfor a film to "interviewing babysitters for your baby."

Speaking aboutthe freedom Universal Studios was giving Director Ang Lee and the producers tocreate and develop The Hulk as they saw fit, Arad explained, "Theyknow we know how to threat our characters."

Speaking of Daredevil,Arad said that everything was "looking amazing."

The sequel to2000's X-Men appears on track for a June 2002 start date aftermissing its initial target. Arad explained, "We had minor delays due tocasting issues and availability issues."

Meanwhile, Aradaffirmed that he had every confidence in Spider-Man. He said thatexamining the successes of Blade, X-Men and BladeII, opening weekend performance seems to be a crucial aspect of thefilms' success.

Arad also anticipatesthat the the successes of The Hulk and Spider-Manwill open the door to even more future Marvel projects.
