Nozomi Entertainment had a lot of competiton with themselves this year as the company had a number of pick-ups in the monthly awards but in the end they took the top honor with their release of Aria: The Animation Season 1 Collection. When we first began the voting several years ago, Geneon Entertainment was the one to take the top spot for two years running before Bandai Entertainment got in for the next two with titles they partnered with Manga Entertainment and Kadokawa Pictures USA respectively for. For 2008, Nozomi's win is surprising but reflective of the market changes as it's not a big name title nor one with an English language adaptation, but a title that's all about the mood, atmosphere and very positive feelings.
ADV Films had two titles up for nomination this year with Kanon Vol. #1 and Five Centimeters Per Second. FUNimation swooped in with Mushishi Vol. #6 and Kanon Vol. #6 due to the license changing hands. Bandai Entertainment had a few titles in the mix this time around with Eureka Seven Vol. #12, Lucky Star Vol. #1 with Kadokawa Pictures USA and Code Geass Set 2. Geneon's return was quite welcome but they only managed to nab one month wit hthe release of Black Lagoon: Second Barrage Vol. #1. Who tore up the list the most though? It was Nozomi Entertainment with Victorian Romance Emma Season 1 and Season 2 as well as Maria Watches Over Us Season 1 and Aria: The Animation Season 1. 2009 should be just as interesting as more and more season sets come out as well.

This is well deserved IMO. The only things I could have wished for were the inclusion of a dub and OST CDs.
