Gary Mitchell didn't have an accent, Khan did. Flimsy, but until they give us more, every little detail matters, right?
On the flip side, the trailer focused a LOT on Alice Eve. Possibly Elizabeth Dehner?

Where no man has gone before was a great episode limited on budget. This is what makes it epic.
I know there are haters of this Trek reboot but not me! Love me some Kirk/Spock/McCoy/Uhura/Scotty/Sulu and that other guy.
I still think it's Gary Mitchell, but yeah I can see it being someone else too. I don't think Khan though... I hope it's not Khan. Alice Eve's haircut was really reminiscent of Elizabeth Dehner.
Uhura and Scotty did seem broken up about something & then there was the scene with the hands at the end of the Japanese trailer which harkens back to The Wrath of Khan. I don't know if Chris Pine & Zachary Quinto can top the scene where Shatner & Nimoy tear it up. That was an ICONIC scene... they need to try to make their own iconic scenes as opposed to recreate the magic that was made with the original actors.
I say its actually Cumberbatch as Sherlock Holmes again. He says he's back. In one of the movies Spock once implied that his ancestor was Sherlock Holmes (or could've been Arthur Conan Doyle).
That's my implausible answer and I'm sticking to it.
