The Review!
3 out of 5

This CD comes packaged up for the consumer with a small cover insert. The insert contains on its two pages very little actually. The pages consist of one page with a large picture of Armitage on it with some credits (found on the back), and one page of just credits. Very small, and slightly disappointing for a two CD set. However the Full-page advertisement (complete with info on the release and price costs of CD), and small stickers (three in total) that came with the CDs more than make up for the disappointing insert..

This particular CD has a lot of that New Age feel music to it. Though there are also memories of a more classical genre in the tones, it most definitely can be classified as New Age. Some of the more basic classical tones are quite uniform in their appeal, and will bring out the pride in us all. It isn’t the type of music I would recommend for easy listening, or partying down to, but still an interesting feel to the whole thing.

The first CD is the New Age extravaganza of the two. More of the songs on this one, have that Science Fiction type quality to them. It is interspersed with some of the more classical tunes as well, but somehow manages to capture the feeling of floating free in the stars. This CD has a very fantastic feel to it, which conjures in my mind the visions of dark emptiness being filled with the metallic silver glow of a space ship on the prowl. An interesting way to start and finish a musical jaunt through the world of Armitage.

The second CD is mostly the more straight-laced one out of the two. The music gives the impression of a struggle between not only the characters in the particular scene the music is provided for, but also within the music itself. It’s subtle ranges of keyboard and percussion actually gives you the feeling of battle at times. However two very Country-Western type songs at the end of the CD, although with the rest of the music seem like they wouldn’t fit in, serve to bring it all together in the end. Giving the CD an almost closure type feeling.

The first CD comes with a surprise in it as well, two bonus tracks not found in either of the shows, written, and performed by Jasmine Rodgers of Boa. And both tracks are extremely well written, as well as performed. They aren’t in the Armitage series, and yet somehow manage to capture the very essence of the series’ true soul. They are listed as Bonus tracks on the CD itself.

Science Fiction is not really my genre, but I think that musically it has a lot to say. And these two CDs certainly pull that off.

Fangboy says…maybe not the most played CD, but certainly worth more than one listen.
=)
