Aronofsky doesnt' seem to be a popular fan choice at least here on Mania but I hope he gets it.  This is Fox don't forget and as much as Wolvie should be rated "R" it isn't going to happen.  Bringing on Aronofsky to direct this will push that PG-13 rating as far as it can go.  Plus, he's a great director...you might not like any of his movies (I coudlnt' stand the Wrestler) but he is a good one.

I agree with Hobbs, Aronofsky is not a popular choice with fanboys who want absolute comic-to-film adaptation (no matter how ridiculous) and "plenty of action".... but I think he'd make an incredible film, make it beautiful, and full of emotional resonance, if indeed (partly) based on the Claremont run in Japan. I'm thinking some of the shots in Hero, or Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon... I'm not saying that Logan should run atop of trees, but in the sense that Asian films have alot of pognant visual poetry to them... and Aronofsky is no stranger to that. Great news!

Let's not forget that when Batman Begins was announced, people didn't like Christopher Nolan's previous films (Following, Memento, Insomnia remake) as "worthy" and "too artsy, too intellectual" to direct our favorite caped crusader. Now, who would dare say that?

If Aronofsky is indeed the chosen one, it would be the best genre news I've heard since they officially announced the Walking Dead TV series. GO Darren!!

Yea i could care less for wolverine 2 I really didn't care much for the first one.

As far as superman goes I have my doubts- the downside to charachter like superman is that there are not that many stories he can be in that will be good becuase the only weakness he has is a chunk of kryptonite. I love the charachter but decent stories for the man of steel are very hard to come by i'm with a lot of ther maniacs on here in saying other villians should be introduced onto the big screen.

Emma Stone as Gwen... nice very nice.

Ghost Rider... sounds like they are going more comic source, which should be cool.  That's a film that coulda been better then it was but... it's one of the better lesser tier comic films.

I cannot wait to see Ruffalo as Banner i'm really looking forward to that, and good to hear that we can expect to see more Hulk down the road.

Sups... mmm not sure where they plan on going with this... with Zod as a villain how would he "as Clark" have time to go around the globe to find out if Sups is "relevant".

Woverine 2... i hope they do a "Wolverine" film and drop all the extra "hero" cameo's.  His Japan storyline should be just him and no-one else involved.

I'm in the same boat as you folks.  Aronofsky on Wolverine would be a dream come true.  As Thorn said, folks dismissed Nolan as too "artsy or intellectual" for Batman - I think that's exactly what Wolverine needs!

these post-modernist directors just don't get it. What makes Superman a great character is the fact that he IS the Big Blue Boyscout! He is Primary colors in a world made up of grays. He always tells the truth, he always does whats right even in a world of few or no absolutes! Hence the CONFLICT or as theatre proffessors call it "Drama"! Which is why a "dead-beat dad" that runs out on his responsibilitiesdoesn't sit well with the audience. It runs counter to his character. Please get it right or don't do it at all.

Cant we just have a superman movie where he is superman and has been superman and he LOVES being supermand and just kicks ass from beginning to end?!?! I mean come on enough of this deep troubled hero angle. Quite making superman and indecisive wuss and make him..gee i dunno..SUPERMAN!

Aronofsky might end up with the better deal. We know Marvel are making good movies. Warner is screwing up theis properties. Thinking Superman's "Boy Scout" image is dated is ridiculous.  It just calls for creative writing, imagine that.

Superman makes for a great balance to Batman. Warner can have two successful franchises that are nothing alike. But NO, lets  make Superman dark... then hey why not ruin Flash too and make that dark. Morons.  The execs at Warner should be fired.

I hope the best for my favorite character Green Lantern. At least Green Lantern can be somwhat dark.

Superman-As soon as Snyder was announced, I smelled something funny.  As to the story rumors, doesn't that sound like the beginning of Batman Begins? Anyway, I hate eat my earlier words but with a story like this, if you can't have Brainiac, Zod is the way to go. It must be Kryptonian. Good news is Luthor really isn't relevant to this story for more than a cameo and Nolan has said he picks the villians to fit the story, not the other way around...

Spiderman- Betty Brant was Spider-man's first girlfiend but maybe he didn't know what love was...Anyway, I'm glad they're bucking with tradition and going with Gwen.

Wolverine- Aronofsky is a good choice. One plus he has going for him is he's actually a well-known director. (Who's Gavin Hood?) Also, The Wrestler is one of the few "artsy" movies I actually enjoyed.   

LoL@ Darkknight- I was wondering how i felt about that storyline, and couldn't quite put my finger on it. And then as i read thru the comments, i was like.... "THERE IT IS!".. haha. Couldn't have put it better myself.

Fox plus Xmen stuff=probable fail. Atleast there is a new director....... i GUESS......
