A longer look at the new series

Check out this new extended trailer for Arrow, a new TV series based on the Green Arrow.

After a violent shipwreck, billionaire playboy Oliver Queen was missing and presumed dead for five years before being discovered alive on a remote island in the Pacific. When he returns home to Starling City, his devoted mother Moira, much-beloved sister Thea, and best friend Tommy welcome him home, but they sense Oliver has been changed by his ordeal on the island. While Oliver hides the truth about the man he's become, he desperately wants to make amends for the actions he took as the boy he was. Most particularly, he seeks reconciliation with his former girlfriend, Laurel Lance. As Oliver reconnects with those closest to him, he secretly creates the persona of Arrow -- a vigilante -- to right the wrongs of his family, fight the ills of society, and restore Starling City to its former glory. By day, Oliver plays the role of a wealthy, carefree and careless philanderer he used to be -- flanked by his devoted chauffeur/bodyguard, John Diggle -- while carefully concealing the secret identity he turns to under cover of darkness. However, Laurel's father, Detective Quentin Lance, is determined to arrest the vigilante operating in his city. Meanwhile, Oliver's own mother, Moira, knows much more about the deadly shipwreck than she has let on -- and is more ruthless than he could ever imagine.

The news series, Arrow, premieres this fall only the CW.

Hello I'm Bruce Wayne.....wait. No Oliver Queen is my name. How am I different from Batman? Oh right I don't have my own film franchise. LOL.

They should have kept the Green Arrow story from Smallville going, already had an established fan base, well developed character and actor who nailed the persona perfectfully. This is why DC loses to Marvel in live action endeavours.

Is this their way of bringing Batman to live action TV?  What a ripoff of Batman and incredibly lame.  This looks like a real turd.

I like this.  It isn't Green Arrow, it's Green Arrow if he actually killed people, was horribly broken inside, and had a lot less of a line between his secret identity and his 'heroic' identity.  One thing that strikes me as amusing is that they're using Lex Luthor's / The X-Men's mansion in the series.  :D  I recognized the castle immediately.

I'm willing to give this one a shot.  I was dubious before, now I'm cautiously optimistic.

I'm willing to give this show a chance.

It doesn't look bad for a TV show, I'll check the pilot out for sure.

So many familiar tthings.  Can't say I'm too happy about using Lex's place as the Queen residence.  It's too soon after Smallville.  Very interesting flash at 3:22 of Deathstroke's mask.  Lots of people named Lance, but no Dinah.  Not yet, anyway.

OmegaDean 6/7/2012 3:05:39 PM

Dinah was the sister he was screwing. Completely predictable way for them to bring her in later as a nemesis.

I'm not happy with this and I can't tell you why exactly. Why distance your self from the comic book, but keep so many of the elements that made it good. Why not just create another vigilante show, genre freaks like us will watch it regardless. I'm not sure if this show is gonna be worth it.

I'll be there for the 1st season as least... At least I'm hoping I'll want to be there for a 1st season.

This looks awesome, and everyone (who actually reads comics)  knows that Green Arrow was a Rip-Off of Batman, Blantantly. He had a The Arrow Cave...

Pendragon0 6/7/2012 3:43:08 PM

Why is he the Arrow and not the GREEN Arrow???

lazarus 6/7/2012 3:51:49 PM

Cause WB did want to deal with questions about why they did not use the Green Arrow story from Smallville.
