Director Louis Leterrier and Warner Bros. may have their leading lady locked in for the upcoming remake Clash of the Titans. Empire Magazine is reporting that Gemma Arterton (Quantum of Solace, Prince of Persia) will play a demi-goddess who Perseus falls in love with. If true, the actress is the second addition to the cast behind Sam Worthington, who is locked in to play Perseus. Director Leterrier (The Incredible Hulk) will helm the remake, based on a script by Lawrence Kasdan and Travis Beacham.

To find out how this remake will compare to the 1981 version, click here. Beware, there are minor spoilers for Arterton's character.

Plot Summary: A remake of the 1981 mythical adventure film about the myth of Perseus. To win the right to marry his love (Andromeda) and fufill his destiny, Perseus must complete various quests and battle both Medusa and the Kraken monster in order to save the Princess Andromeda.

Clash of the Titans is scheduled to hit theaters March 26, 2010.

I like her, they could've cast her as Andromeda as far as I'm concerned. I'm really looking forward to this. It would be cool if Liam Neesom took the role of Zeus but understandable if he didn't.

Huh? Andromeda wasn't a demi-goddess, was she? I don't think so. She was just the daughter of the queen who pissed off the goddess Thetis by saying her daughter was more beautiful. So Thetis demanded she be sacrificed to the Kraken. I hope they're not changing it that much.

Ah, wait.  Just saw the link showing the differences in the movie.  Hmm. We'll see.  Agree that Neeson would kick ass as Zeus, but understandable if he doesn't do it.  Who would be a good alternate?  Also, which way to go with the gods? British? Or non-accented, but simply eloquent speakers (kinda like Mary Elizabeth Mastrantonio in Robin Hood, Prince of Thieves)?

She's ok, but I think I'm getting excited for this as long as they don't have lasers behind Zues.

I forgot that Leterrier was signed on to direct this turkey. I guess we'll get another unnecessary shot of a 5 minute flyover of some hilly terrain that serves no purpose other than to bore us to tears?

I think Tim Roth would make a good Zeus. Or maybe William Hurt.

John Rys Davies would be an awesome Zeus.

This was a Harryhausen movie, that and that alone made it watchable and interesting. Can't see how any remake would ever match the fantasy splendor of what Harryhausen could create, seems like a waste of celluloid this idea.

Come on guys... Samuel L as Zues would kick ass...

;)
