Childhood's End is one of the first great sci-fi books I remember reading. He was one of the greats. RIP.

He lived a long life, and his ideas will live an infinitely longer one. RIP

I am stunned. I was just a boy the first time I saw 2001 on TV and I was probably a tweenager when I started reading his books (RAMA is still one of my all time faves). This world is diminished without him. With EG Gygax's passing a few weeks ago I thought geekdom had lost its King. With Mr. Clarke's passing surely we have lost our kingdom's greatest thinker. What a sad day.

Sony, you are going to find this hard to believe but I really like what you wrote. Nice tribute and well said.

Rest in Peace Mr. Clarke. You were one of the greatest. Say "Hi" to Issac for me.

Geez, man, we're losing all the great ones....

Thanks JS and Hobbs. I do believe it and I would like Peter Hyams to retackle 2010 and 2061 and 3001. He worked with Clarke via a fax like machine during pre production on 2010. Kier Dullea is still alive and kickin.
