Ashton Kutcher joins "Lakeview"

Date: Monday, March 12, 2007

According to the Hollywood Reporter, Ashton Kutcher is in talks to star in the upcoming Screen Gems thriller, Lakeview Terrace.  He will join Samuel L. Jackson and Kerry Washington in the cast.

The film, which Neil LaBute is in negotiations to direct, centers on an LAPD officer (Jackson) who will stop at nothing to force out the interracial couple that recently moved in next door. Kutcher would play Washington's spouse.

Shooting is expected to begin in June.

KJ's Take:  Another Samuel L. Jackson film!  Maybe this is a good time to mention I liked the Butterfly Effect, though it can't hold a candle to Donnie Darko.

Eh.

I liked it better when it was called Carpool, starring Tom Arnold.

What's with the Ashton bashing? He was good in Butterfly Effect, and I"ll take him over Ryan Walker anyday

I knew next to nothing about AK when I saw Butterfly Effect, other than he was the doofy guy from That 70's Show (which I never watched). The movie wound up kicking ass! He was really good in it, too. Then I found out he was an exec producer on it, too. I started to think maybe there was a little more to him than the goofball his character appeared to be. Since then, I've read a few intereviews with him and seen a few articles about him. He seems to be about a bit more than just being Kelso. I'm interested to see what he does with his career. Oh, and he was funny in his uncredited part playing a vacuuous himbo in Cheaper by the Dozen.

I love when people bash The Kutch. He was on a hit show that will yield royalties for a long time, developed two shows, Punk'd and Beauty and the Geek, stars in alot of hollywood films and he is getting PAID!
How many stars waste their opportunities? He has parlayed his doofy Kelso (a great character) into Hollywood success. Like him or not he is due his respek!
As an actor, I don't hate him or love him, but I have to say Butterfly effect (without the happy ending) was a pretty good film that went under the radar.

Frankly it would be fun to see Samuel L. Jackson get Pulp Fiction on Ashton on screen: "Say 'Dude where's my car one mo' time'!!! Just say 'Dude where's my car ONE MORE TIME'....!"

Okay, I guess I'm going to be the first one to say this, but this sounds very close to "Guess Who." Both revolving around interacial relationships and being either pushed to leave or deliberate actions to intent on breaking the relationship up. I am so sick of Ashton, name me one movie, where he did something worthwhile...exactly, and don't give me that crap that "The Butterfly Effect" was any good. The plot might have been very interesting, but come on, Ashton can't act. He has already type casted himself into comedies now, so that he can do slapstick types to ease people on his acting. The guy was an underwear model, where in the hell does that say he is deserving to be an actor. Sometimes, I really can't stand American Cinema, we get people aren't true actors nowadays, it's like the term "actor" has been severly downgraded from what it used to be. Acting used to be an art that was held to high regard, now they'll let any dipshit become an actor to generate revenue. You want something funny, but will make you think watch movies like "The Matador", "The Royal Tenebaums," or "Sideways." Well, I"m sorry to the poor sap that read this all. I know I ranted, but I can't stand the Ashton Kutchers of acting, bringing the art of acting to the level of a fast food joint, just so they can make a buck.

Bmfstunner, you are absolutely correct. I was going to say the same thing.

Ashton Kutcher cannot act. Again Bmfstunner, you are correct. He has one facial 10 facial expressions and they are all goofy silly. Kutcher had a great chance to try and prove himself inThe Guardian, yet let Kostner outshine him. This movie sounded really interesting to me until they mentioned Kutcher, now I could care less. By the way, Sam L. did great in Black Snake Moan, great movie.

I like a good comedy, but it just seems to me that as long as the media keeps seperating people by race, there will continue to be a problem with racism.

Is it just me or do other people get tired of hearing. "A mexican director" or "the first black coach to win a superbowl" or even, "the first woman to". Aren't those racist comments (or sexist).

Now I'm not saying that we can erase a hundred plus years of history by the media not constantly seperating race (or sex), but wouldn't it be a good start.

As for the movie, I like Sam and Kutcher (though a bad actor) can be funny, so I might give this a try.
