Summer is over, but there's always time for the beach. Swimsuits! Yet more may be lurking in shallow waters than fun in the sun.

What They Say
The new semester just started, and Kio's class erupts as an unlikely surprise befalls them. Bizarre transfer students appear before them: an alien, a robot, an extremely wealthy ojousama, maid soldiers. The boys of the class have their hearts stolen, and the girls seethe with jealousy. The spiral of love is fierce, and chaos comes, whether they want it to, or not... And another event comes to push the event even further. Attractive girls in swimsuits await Kio and his friends on the beautiful beaches of Okinawa.

The Review!
Content: (please note that content portions of a review may contain spoilers)
I can't say that the opening this time "bewitched" me, but it would seem the references to earlier TV shows are continuing.

Summer vacation is over and Elis has decided to go to school. Kuune, the Catgirl in Command, decided to allow Elis' request to go to school with Kio, as a means of making it up to her for having her mating season ended early. Thus, Ms. Itokazu, with obvious displeasure, has to introduce Elis as the new transfer student. But wait, it gets better. In addition to alien Elis, there is another sudden transfer student: Antonia... I'm not going to bother with the rest of her name, Antonia the leader of the Cat Cult. Along with two of her maids, except now they're all dressed as schoolgirls. (Note that neither Elis nor Antonia and her maids are in official issue school uniforms for Kio's school).

Suddenly, Kio is surrounded by curious classmates, though Antonia's guards scare them off. Except for the president of the Movie Club, who approaches Kio to ask about the club trip. Plucking up some courage, the club president asks Elis if she'd like to come along, and when she says yes, he hands her an application form to join the club. Since Elis is going, Antonia is going, and that prompts Manami as well. Aoi wonders why, but Manami only has to mention the words "Kio," "Elis" and "Alone" (put into a complete sentence with words I'm leaving out) to get her to understand. So, instead of a standard club trip by bus, a grand motorcade of armored limousines and protective motorcycles heads off.

As it happens, Manami and Kio ride in the same limo as the only two previous female members of the club (Aiko and Arisa), and the club girls ask point blank whether Manami and Aoi like Kio. Manami points to Aoi, who is embarrassed but doesn't deny it. We then learn from one of the female club members that Kio is quite popular with the ladies, even if he is an otaku (translated "geek" here), and she notes that geeks are getting popular now (sorry, this is sounding a lot like a fantasy on the part of the anime writers, or else it is pandering to the audience, trying to reassure them that they are desirable to most women: reality would seem to point in another direction).

When they arrive at the location for the outing, it seems that it's a beach: this trip would appear to be more about relaxation than about doing some serious club work. Of course, we are likely to have some unpleasantness coming up: during this episode, we have had brief asides to a coastal area, showing what is apparently a small unit of Dog Assistaroids engaged in criminal behavior, stealing electronics and blowing up a car. I am certain we will see them later.

But since this is a beach episode, obviously it is a swimsuit episode, and yes, swimsuits ahoy. And there is a twist to that, as, let's just say that the swimsuits that Antonia brings along (and she brings along an entire store's worth) were really meant for just one person to wear. After some swimming and playing on the beach (not shown), it's time for a barbecue along the shore. During the meal, Aoi manages to make her move, getting Kio alone to herself. Aoi is very happy to have him alone, but the mood, for her, is completely ruined when he asks her to teach him how to fight. Kio, clueless boy that he is, could not read her mood at the time. He goes back to the main party, and Manami figures out immediately that he said something to upset Aoi.

Aoi is off alone, but Elis comes to see her. That's when Aoi vents at Elis, complaining about how she has liked Kio for a long time, but Elis just suddenly swoops in with her big boobs and cat ears and steals him away from her. Elis, of course, doesn't take offense, but instead hugs Aoi. Of course, this touching moment (for those who care) is interrupted by an attack on the main group. It starts oddly: a young girl named Ichika comes up to Elis and Aoi and warns them of the attack. In the distance, it can be seen that projectiles are being hurled at the main beach site. Elis runs back, but Ichika holds Aoi back for a moment. As I mentioned before, there were a group of Dog Assistaroids in the area, and they have decided to launch their attack. The attack is very odd: they have built a homemade launcher and fire old tires at the group, though that seems to have been mainly as a diversion, as a small group of them move in and try to steal the club's camera equipment. The Cat Assistaroids fight back, but especially useful in this fight is Aoi, who suddenly appears, wearing special talismans on her arms and legs, which increase her fighting skills greatly (these would seem to be the gift of the mysterious Ichika). Antonia's people have not been idle either, as they have built a large Cat Mecha (basically), piloted by Sara, which goes into action with a full arsenal of weapons.

It is revealed that these Dog Assistaroids were actually the ones who were defeated on Antonia's ship a couple episodes ago, and they only now have managed to get back to dry land after traversing the ocean floor. They have been stealing pieces of equipment from people nearby in order to repair themselves, as they have no self-repair function (which the Cats seem to have). The defeated Dog Assistaroids are boxed up...and sent back to the Dogisian leader by Ichika, who would appear to know a lot more about both sides than she is likely to reveal.

In Summary:
We get a silly beach episode here, so as one might expect, there are skimpy bathing suits aplenty. Of course, this works to the advantage of Elis and Manami, who have figures suited to animators drawing bathing suits, while Aoi is again not so well served. Of course, this show being what it is, it does not give us simple fun in the sun without any other events, including an encounter with a group of Dog robots. It does not break any new ground, however, other than this might be the first time I can remember that an advanced alien race chose to attack Earthlings using nothing more advanced that a homemade tire launcher. Yes. Not rockets, not lasers. Old, used tires. Though if that counts for originality and creativity in this type of show, then the bar is really quite low. It is pretty clear at this point that this show has a set formula: show some fanservice, and have a brief fight scene of some sort (though skimp on the action scene if possible). Also, pretend to advance the complicated love polyhedron of Kio-Elis-Aoi-Manami. Note the word pretend, as it feels more than an afterthought than a real priority.
