Well, I called just over 200 mil worldwide and glad that I was right. It would probably have hit over 100 mil alone domestic if not for the snowstorm.

I`m going to check it out again in normal 3D on Wednesday.

Singermanblows, thanks, that was the funniest thing I have read all day. Way to lighten the mood. Michael Bay couldn't wash James Camerons shorts.Bay wishes he was Cameron's left eye. That way he'd know what true vision was.

Well, the domestic box office is about what I expected.  Those people who were predicting $150 million, $200 million domestic opening weekend were just drunk on hype.

I'm interested to see what kind of legs this movie has, I really don't know.  On the one hand after Christmas there aren't going to be many big films coming out, so that should help Avatar.  On the other hand, I don't know if this is a movie people need to see over and over and over again, like the girls did with Titanic.

Either way, I'd be surprised if it beats Dark Knight in terms of being second highest gross of all time (domestic).  No way it's reaching Titanic!

Just got back...

LOVED IT!!!!

It was a great movie, you can be a douche and say "It's the same story as blah blah blah" in your whining nerd voice, but all stories are derived from somewhere, and I'll bet my next paycheck DwW was very similar to another movie from the past and so n and so on...

GREAT MOVIE, I cared about the characters, and they NEVER looked cgi NEVER...NOT ONCE!!!!

If you wanna say it looked like a video game 2 things are possible

1. you have a really super aadvanced console from 1000 years in the futurte...

OR...

2, your a douche.

Great m0ovie, it will be very profitable. I went to an 11am showing (earliest movie I've ever been to) in order to avoid crowds...The theater was packed, there was a line, and I barley got a halfway decent seat.

I'll be seeing this at least 2 more times.

It will have legs because of word of mouth.

Avatar doesn't get the huge opening that a lot of movies have lately because ITS NOT BASED ON A POPULAR PROPERTY, WITH AN ALREADY RABID OR LOYAL FANBASE.\

It came out of nowhere, fanboys knew about it but not the average joe schmoe. After people start spreading the inevidible great word of mouth around it will continue to see packed theaters.

PLUS this is a total date movie, guys love the action, and thier girlfriends can dig the emotional aspects, and strong female leads. (I enjoyed both)

PLUS we got to see Navi boobies

My only critique (as a graphic designer) is they used one of the most overused fonts EVER for the sub-titles - Papyrus (if it wasn't papyrus, it looked just like it)

Just saw AVATAR in 3D. Great movie! CGI was awesome, and it was a great story! Will definitely recommend it to others.

Sad to hear about Brittany Murphy.  32 is so young.

LOVED this movie. Does it change cinema, NO!, but was it awesome, YES! What a wonderful world he created and what wonderful characters. Action was great when it was there, but I just enjoyed the movie for what it was. I kept watching these blue people and suddenly thinking, oh that's not real it's a computer. That's how I knew it was great, because I forgot all the time what I was looking at.

Oh and my theaters 2:30 show on Sunday was sold out and 6:10 might have been too.  That's sweet for Sunday.

Singermanblows, Cameron wishes he was Michael Bay, surely you jest? Bay wishes he could intern for Cameron then maybe he could actually learn a thing or two and apply it to actually making good movies.

I have no doubt this movie will carry through till Feb. I took 8 people to see it with me and they all went back to see it again before the weekend was over. Plus during my showing the movie got a standing ovation and I've spoken to family and friends around the country and they are saying the same thing at their showings. Do not underestimate the good word of mouth. It always works well for good movies this time of year. Just look at what it's doing for Blindside. And Avatar is a much bigger experience than that once people know what this is the gross will go up. You can say we're using that as an excuse, those of us who are fans of the movie, but just watch what happens.

I'm going back to see it again in IMAX 3d tomorrow night. I don't think I've been this excited to see a movie twice since TDK. Avatar owns son!!!!!!

Damn, Hanso cant see it cuz of snowstorms., and I cant see it cuz of people storms! We drove by our Imax theater today, and the lines were just Effin ridiculous. I know finding a good seat in an IMAX theater is hard to find if there are 100's of people waiting in front of you. Prolly check it out mid week myself.

Glad to hear it's doing great though. I've kinda been the Avatar representative on my Facebook for the past months myself. It's fun telling people I told ya so. hehe

Saw it saturday morning matinee with my girl,& best lady friend. It was good but we saw it in regular format which was a mistake but no matter. I'm gonna see it again in 3D this week to get the full experience, and to be honest I think its the way to go for this flick.
