The actual numbers are out for AVATAR, 77.025 miilion domestic and 242.5 worldwide. Not bad for an original non-sequel film.

Saw it Sunday night. In 3D.

One of the most visually stunning movies I've ever seen....

No let me change that. THE most visually stunning movie I have ever seen.

And we got an ovation in our theatre as well, as I read in another post.

Just fantastic. And I do think the filmmaking in this is revolutionary. I don't know of any other movies filmed like this in 3D. But I honestly feel like I don't want to go back watching movies the same way again.

As for the much debated political overtones, so what? They are there. But of course, the arrogance of Americans (as arrogance is alluded to in this movie) has to make it about "America hating" and the protest about the war. Well, I feel the whole point is missed. The movie simply tackles what alot of movies tend to do. The arrogance of man, period. And ultimately, the Earth people in this movie could have represented any superpower, nation, country or group of people over the milennia whose arrogance resulted in the destruction of countries, families, etc...

In the end, an awesome movie. I was bit tired going to see from traveling all day. So I will most def go catch it one more time, this time in IMAX 3D

I never understood the standing ovations people give movie screens...I go to see lots of plays and musicals and yeah, those I can understand as the actors actually come out to take a bow.  Where does that make sense in a movie theater?  Just saying...

Just saw it for the second time in regular 3d, my IMAX sold out, and good news most of the 6-9 showings had either sold out or were at like 70 percent. The movie didn't play as well to me in regular 3d but it still pulls you in. Once I got adjusted to the differences. I figured it would pretty much be the same just on a smaller screen and it wasn't. The 3d was still there the images just didn't pop out the way they did at IMAX. Anyway, it was still excellent the second time around and it got another massive standing o and a deafining round of applause when the credits rolled. Good work Mr. Cameron!

I know you don't want a sequel gauley but if the numbers are there we are going to get one.  Cameron has said it many times already.  It is a great stand alone film, but like he says in his interviews.  They spent so much money creating this amazing new world, it would be shame to not revisit it again.  You can check out one such interview on IGN here...
