Everyone near Cleveland's East Ninth Street should be warned. The Avengers are about to wreck havoc on your immediate location, with the city website and producers from the Walt Disney/Marvel Studios production warning residents and businesses of the area that they have a major battle planned for the location. At the moment, the area is being transformed to look like NYC's 42nd street and producer Patty Whitcher reveals that we can expect to see our favorite superheroes doing battle there.

"We have to keep people back a bit for safety reasons. There will be explosions. But [fans] will be able to see the actors and their favorite Avengers on the street during the filming... There will be six days of mayhem on this street with lots of explosions and car flipping."

For those looking to be near the set of production, here's some more dates set aside for Joss Whedon's shoot.

- Filming on East Ninth Street from Euclid to Prospect avenues, Aug. 15 to Aug. 24.
- Filming on Euclid Avenue from East Sixth Street to East 12th Street, Aug. 22, through Sept. 2.
- Filming on Walnut Avenue from East Ninth Street to East 12th Street, Aug. 17 to Aug. 30.
- Filming on South Roadway at Superior Avenue and Ontario Street, Aug. 29.
- Filming on the Detroit-Superior (Veterans Memorial) Bridge at intermittent times in August. - Public Square in front of Tower City will be closed for filming.

The Avengers will star Robert Downey Jr., Chris Hemsworth, Chris Evans, Jeremy Renner, Mark Ruffalo, Scarlett Johansson, Clark Gregg, Samuel L. Jackson, Cobie Smulders, Tom Hiddleston and Stellan Skarsgård. Whedon is leading the direction, based on a screenplay he wrote.

The Avengers will strike theaters May 4, 2012.

I think this may be the only time in my life that I will ever say this, "I wish I was in Cleveland"

Are they really going to blowup the buildings? It's not like anyone would miss them. They were problably abandoned anyways.

Shouldn't that be "wreak havok"?

 Darkknight - can I hitch a ride?

I want to see my favorite Avengers on the street fighting.  Ant-Man, Wasp, Black Panther and Wonder Man.  ;-)  I guess I'll have to settle for Scarlet Johansson.

Darkknight, please do share any photos or video! They'll probably keep people a good distance, thogh.

Yes.  It should be wreak havoc.

Ah, Cleveland is getting a bit of a bad wrap.  It's undergoing a bit of a revitalization.  And now less than 9 months away from opening day.  It's like waiting for a kid to be born without all of the female angst and diapers.

Took my wife and kid to see Captain America.  Cried during pretty much the whole damn thing!  I told her if the Skull wishes for and gets golden armor, I'd lose it.  I can't wait to see it again sober.   The Avengers will own.

As a Cleveland native (born and raised people) I am so pumped about this. They filmed scenes from the last Rami Spidey movie here but that was like a week worth of filming with nothing but stuntmen (it was the scene were Sandman robs the bank). This movie is here for the whole month of August and part of September with all the main stars in attendance.

I don't work downtown but may jet down there before a Browns or Indians game to see them filming. I will send Jarrod any pics I take.

I s#it you not -  there had to be close to 5000 people from all over the midwest outside my office window last month trying to be an extra for the movie (don't get me starteed on the eye candy) - there is apparently a black tie affair that is being filmed and a bunch of busy city street scenes that they needed extras for. I got in line but once I found out they could call you any day in August, I prefered the security of my high paying coporate job over the chance to rub shoulders with the black widow.

On a side note - they are also filming I, Alex Cross this month in Cleveland, I liked Along Came a Spider but that was Morgan Freeman not Tyler Perry.
