i was one of them....damn it.  we left after the 1st one.   i knew better.  i will tell my boys so they can tell me what missed.

RedHood is a subtle simple scene that has to be seen to be appreciated. But at least now we know the price you win for saving the world :)

Yeah, that end scene credit was so funny.  We just sat there and kept wondering..."are they gonna do anything?"  LOL

Whedon you bastard...making me wait through the whole end credit for that.  He obviously did it on purpose as a gag.  I FORGIVE YOU FOR MAKING ME SIT THROUGH THE CREDITS FOR THAT SINCE YOU GAVE US A MASTERPIECE OF A MOVIE!!!

I seriously need to see this again so I can see everything I missed.  We sat beside this fat guy that was breathing so loud.  I was going to look over at him and say "SERIOUSLY MAN...LEARN TO BREATH!!!"  Guy sounded like Darth Vader with his breathing.  And someone brought their damn BABY into the theatre.  Seriously...a baby...like, why do people do that?  I'm sorry but if you can't afford a sitter...DON'T GO TO THE MOVIES!  I don't understand why you're allowed to bring a baby into a theatre.  Rant off.

Anybody notice a certain CEO is noticably absent from this debate?

vitieddie 5/4/2012 9:26:09 PM

congrats to avengers but remember DK was released in 2008 and not in 3D (also not in that many IMAX if i remember correctly)

not sure why there is so much hate for batman especially from ElBaz13 ... i think batman, as a single character (with no super powers or "wow" factor) has held its own in the film genre

BTW - just got back from FCBD - is there any way to post photos on MANIA? am sure lots of ppl have pics of the cosplayers and the crowds etc

Its exciting to see everyone's reaction. Damn near everyone says the same thing. GREATEST CBM EVER.

Love that the reaction is practically universal. This movie is going to make so much money. And this certainly upgraded Joss Whedon to a whole new category for the general public and the studios.

In the climactic battle there were a couple times I thought "okay, its over now" but then it just kept coming. SO GREAT.

Tevii 5/4/2012 10:04:48 PM

@vitieddie - I cant speak for everyone else, but I can tell you the one reason I want Batman to fail even though Im dying for a great Batman movie and Im a die hard DC guy.

Yes Nolan has done well with the series and yes it opened doors for CBMs. But Warner Bros. screws up their properties too much. And because The Dark Knight did so well they think they know the "formula" and are putting too much faith in Nolan. Nolan's style works for Batman, but not characters like Flash or Superman. But because of  the success of one movie they are not changing their tactics with their other properties, but it isnt working. Green Lantern shouldve been amazing, it had the potential to be as great as The Avengers. Jonah Hex couldve been great as well. etc.  Warner needs another FAIL in order for them to take a step back and change their overall approach. If TDKR is AS huge as TDK, they wont change their tactics because they think they have it right and they dont. Marvel is doing it right BIG TIME.

But this is just my opinion.

And I think a lot of people are like me, maybe the hate isnt so much the Batman movies or Nolan, it the Nolanites that we hate.

Just got back from seeing Avengers.

I honestly don't think it could have been done any better.
There was a reason for (almost) everything that happened.
For the most part, it followed a logical progression and flowed smoothly from scene to scene.

MILD SPOILERS!!!!!!

There were wonderful small pockets of humor and calm respite from the action and some genuine surprises and laughs.
The humor was subtle and natural (Cap handing Fury $10 - Banner waking up naked with the gaurd over him - Loki asking for "that drink now" )
Nothing seemed forced or done solely for laughs.
And the final end credits scene had us rolling.
We related to that and you'll understand if you have seen it.

Planning to take in another showing Sunday.
Good fun and Whedon is definitely the man!

**SPOILERS!!!!!***

I'd have to say my favorite scenes were a lot of Ironman's. Especially when he gets thrown out the window and his armor catches him.... like..WOW!!! and the scene where Hulk and Thor take down one of those dragon things, and then there's that awkward pause between them and Hulk just gives him a giant punch..... TOO FUNNY!!!  I even really enjoyed how when Loki turns people, they're still themselves, and have all their wit and knowledge, except they're just on his side. That was just cool within itself. Every scene was done so meticulously well. All my favorite movies have those few scenes where I will rewind and watch over and over. This movie had SOOOO MANY of those!! I cant wait to buy my damn 3D Blu-Ray already!!! *** End SPoilers*

This is like the most historic day in comic nerdom folks!! Soak it in!! Take a big whiff!! Relish in this moment!!! Comic books are taking over the cinema world!!
