The longer you wait, Darth, the more likely you'll be right.  And if you're right, that means you're holding up some major technological advances in home entertainment from getting to the rest of us.

Blu-Ray is awesome if you've got the tv for it.  Even better if you have surround sount, too.

Lots of that trailer footage wasn't in the movie, which just makes me want the bluray all the more.  It seems like a clear indication that the first home video release won't be a vanilla release, as was done with Avatar.

This will be in my collection the day it comes out.  Also, Avengers passed $600 million domestically on Tuesday, becoming only the third movie ever to do that.  Well deserved IMO and wish it could catch Titanic for #2 all time.

I think the greatest thing about blu ray (aside from the superior picture and sound) is all the extra stuff and bonus content that can be added.  You just can't do the same thing with a standard DVD because of the lack of storage space.

I think all of that footage was in the film

Hey Darth, time to take the plunge. :)

I said the same thing years ago but in September 2008, one movie changed my mind. I told my wife I was going to pick up my DVD of Iron Man that night and came back home with the blu-ray version and a PS3.

300 movies later, I'm still loving the blu!

The Disney movies are the best blu-rays out there. Picture, sound, etc... They really take care of their products and I'm willing to bet this Avengers blu-ray will be top notch. If you are wondering how long blu-ray will last, some experts are saying it will have a longer shelf live than DVD and expect it to last a good 10-15 more years. 4K is the next wave and we are still far from it. And even if it is, I'm sure blu-ray will be backwards compatible just life DVD is to blu-ray now. 1080P is still pretty darn good.

As for the Avengers blu, there are some features but expected more from a megahit like this.
