The third TV Spot for Joss Whedon’s Avengers has landed. This one features Loki (Tom Hiddleston) is a verbal confrontation with Tony Stark (Robert Downey Jr.). Though what is truly amazing is that Marvel has decided to show the Aliens (Skrulls?) in league with Loki. The summer tentpole stars Robert Downey Jr., Chris Evans, Mark Ruffalo, Chris Hemsworth, Scarlett Johansson, Jeremy Renner, Tom Hiddleston, Samuel L. Jackson and Stellan Skarsgård. Director Joss Whedon penned the screenplay.

Plot Concept: Continuing the epic big-screen adventures started in "Iron Man," "The Incredible Hulk," "Iron Man 2," "Thor" and "Captain America: The First Avenger," "Marvel's The Avengers" is the superhero team up of a lifetime. When an unexpected enemy emerges that threatens global safety and security, Nick Fury, Director of the international peacekeeping agency known as SHIELD, finds himself in need of a team to pull the world back from the brink of disaster. Spanning the globe, a daring recruitment effort begins.

Marvel's The Avengers flies into 3D/2D/IMAX theaters on May 4, 2012.

Never been a Whedon fan, but it looks like he has a winner on his hands.  Can't wait!  "We have a Hulk."

But it's not Ed Norton!  the more I see these tv spots and trailers the more it needed to be him.  What a waste...

I'm not a Whedon nut either (though I do enjoy Firefly), I find this project and its subject matter perfect for him. He can handle a crowd of characters beautifully.

Ok in the article they write Skrulls, but I thought it was reported they were not Skrulls or Kree.  My Atlantean theory is out.  They could be Scavengers  from the Negative Zone.

I love Joss Whedon's work. I think he's one of the best out there for genre pieces. He's also a master of directing an assamble cast.  I for one cannot wait.  I don't care what else is coming out. May 4th cannot get here soon enough for me.

No mention of the Skrulls... hence the Question Mark. At Comic Con 2 years ago the producers were coy about who the aliens were.

Well I AM a huge Whedon fan, and in my book, he can do no wrong!  Most of his TV projects show how well he can handle ensemble casts, so this is perfect for him.

CrazyCEO I agree.. its a shame there could not be an agreement between Marvel and Norton for this.

First I want to welcome and congratulate Rob on his new post as the Godfather here at mania now that it's official. Rob I'll pass the words my uncle gave me "with great power comes great responsibility" he also said "if it's yellow let it mellow and if it's brown fulsh it down" but I don't think that second piece of advice will help you much at work or in anything outside of a slightly smaller water bill.

As for this film, it's gonna blow chunks...of awesomeness. Whedon is well versed in his craft and having been involved with comics in the past will assist IMO

I was thinking Loki's little helpers might be the Badoon....

If you guys go to Bleeding Cool, they have a good screen capture of the alien race helping Loki out. Or pause this TV spot at exactly 0:23.

Looks awfully familiar and maybe a set up for Thor 2? Hint: Stormbreaker.
