Awesome GI Joe Retaliation Toys from Toy Fair 2012

Wait, it might not suck

By Robert T. Trate     February 16, 2012

I know that I am not alone in thinking that GI Joe: the Rise of Cobra was terrible. It was the cartoon brought to life in the worst possible way. Now I am still a huge fan of the cartoon but what I wanted was a realistic portrayal of the series brought to life. When the sequel was announced I didn’t think much of the Rock being cast in the film. The first trailer also did very little for me. While at Toy Fair I stopped by the Hasbro booth for a few pictures and did not really expect anything spectacular. The line for the new movie is not as huge as the first, but my God are the figures incredible. The sculpts of the actors are amazing and so much that I told the Hasbro rep that the Bruce Willis figure could be instantly sculpted into a Cole figure for 12 Monkeys. I have higher hopes for the movie now. I also know that several of these figures, one way or the other, will find their way onto my toy shelf.

I’m usually not one for gimmick toys, but I will definitely get these for my nephews. They just look like super fun for kids.

Most of the toys for the first film were crap, poorly sculpted, and poorly detailed. They've gone more for quality over quantity this time out.

I had the Fang boat and the 4x4 as a kid. The Boat was the swamp boat and had Copperhead as the pilot. Way to recycle Hasbro!

It was the water mocasin and the AWE striker. Both very cool tool. These toys are great.

Damn, Bruce Willis has muscled up and The Rock has a skinny neck!

I never thought i'd see the day when the RZA had his own action figure P.

Hmm... notice there is no Duke toy??

Does anybody ever consider even vague reality when they design the vehicles?  That tank is ridiculous!

violator14, there is a Duke figure (check the Mania Facebook page linked above), I cannot stand Tatum and the article was titled AWESOME GI Joe toys. ~ Robert

That is the most badass Cobra Commander figure I've ever seen.  Actually, it's the ONLY badass Cobra Commander figure I've ever seen.  His figures have always been major let downs until now.  His appearance in that last movie scarcely bears thinking of.
