Thespian Hank Azaria won't be spreading the laughs he usually creates with his voice talents from "The Simpsons". In an interview with MTV, the actor has revealed some information for the upcoming Fox sequel Night at the Museum 2: Escape from the Smithsonian. We knew that Amy Adams would be playing the love interest opposite Ben Stiller but the previous reports didn't say which historical legend she would be playing. Azaria shed some light on her character along with informing us of his sinister plans.

“I am playing a fictional Egyptian pharaoh that comes to life,” Azaria revealed to MTV News. “I’m the villain in the movie and have all sorts of nasty plans for modern society and poor Ben Stiller gets caught in the middle of it.”

As for the rest of the cast, Azaria says that recent addition Amy Adams will in fact be playing Amelia Earhart and that many of the original cast are set to return. “Owen [Wilson] is coming back and so is Steve Coogan and Ricky Gervais. And there’s other fun folks too who haven’t officially signed on yet playing historical figures,” he teased.

Night at the Museum 2: Escape from the Smithsonian will hit theaters May 22, 2008.

What happened to Carla Gugino as a love interest? I am sure I will end up seeing this. The first one was fun. I just hope this one is funnier.

It's an odd thing Ben Stiller has going. He plays the same character in all his films, yet some do really well, and others just bomb. I wonder if people are slowly learning that it's not the actor that makes the movie, it's the story. Maybe the studio will learn this and not pay 40 million for an actor and focus on a decent story.
I like Night at the Museum and will go see this one.

Stiller was miscast in the first one. With a funnier actor. It could have been very very funny instead of just barely amusing. Ben Stiller, the King of Mediocre! I'd still like to know how you can make a part 2 without completely copying part 1?

I'd like to know how you can make a part 2 to this suck fest before doing Mystery Men 2.
