BACK TO THE FUTURE (1985)
By Frank Garcia
June 10, 2001
This film was a breath of fresh air in the SF/fantasy genre--a wacky time-travel comedy about a young man named Marty McFly who went back to 1955, in a gull-winged DeLorean transformed into a time machine, and met his parents as teenagers. Director Robert Zemeckis and writer Bob Gale showed Hollywood us that you can squash SF and comedy in a remarkly fresh and very funny way. Michael J. Fox's engaging chemistry with a frenetic Christopher Lloyd is what made the film believable and exciting. Just imagine, if you met your parents as teenagers, wouldn't you freak out too?
