axia777...I agree that they could have made an offer to Bale for the JL movie that would have been difficult for him to refuse.  Heck, it's not like he's grown too old to play the caped crusader.  He's only 39 ... younger than action heroes like Dwayne Johnson and Vin Diesal, but Movies are a business, so why not find a guy to replace  Bale who will work for half the money, especially when the Nerd audience your counting on to run to the theatre in droves to see this movie, doesn't seem to be that thrilled with the guy.

As for me...I think Bale is an excellent actor...He was absolutely incredible in "The Fighter."  Once an actor wins an academy award he gets offered a lot of meaty parts.  If you check him out on IMDB he's got about a half dozen projects he's involved in.   I think he'll do just fine even if he never plays Batman again.

You got it. Nolan even went overboard with the whole "occupy" bullshit 2 years ago and reflected that with Bane in TDKR.  I know for a fact my kids (age 8 and 10) would be f.ucking bored with the Nolan Batman movies. Too long. Too dark. Too "real". They would probably like more the Burton Batman movies. Plus my kids are girls so they like seeing more female characters in genre movies like this with bigger roles. Sadly the women in Nolan's movies suck except for Hathaway as Catwoman....uh..I mean Selina Kyle.  They life her as an actress but sadly, would have to suffer almost 3 hours of dreck to see the small parts she's in the movie. My kids loved the Black Widow the moment they saw her kick ass in Iron Man 2. Then her opening interrogation scene in Avengers blew them away (and was also funny).

I like Bale as an actor. I actually like his charisma as Bruce Wayne but sadly blew it as Batman (thanks to Nolan's take).

The Fighter was awesome and well deserved Oscar.

I feel people are too forgiving of the Marvel movies. I will agree they have the upper hand as far as the planned aspect.. but if DC/Warner did the same.. OMG. That is my only arguement there.

I don't think it would be that hard for TDK trilogy to connect with this universe. You could easily (I know you'll hate this) but have Superman be the one to save Bruce at the end with the nuclear explosion. It could have been planned, actually. His face at the end, when the timer is ticking down; COULD be batman thinking "I put my trust in you.. I really hope you make it in time" kind of thing. You can't lie, that would make the ending to TDKR even more epic! That small connection would be a huge deal to the ending of that saga.

This is wishful thinking.

Ofcourse, you could easily just carry on from TDKR because the whole morality he had was of the "symbol" of batman. So continued universe, just with a new guy.. "No there was one before me kind of thing."

Lastly, I would like JGL to be NIGHTWING. He would be the PERFECT NightWing. He knew batman.. so why would he take the cowl? He had too much respect for the cape and decided to just follow in the footsteps of justice. Taking the streets of gotham into his own hands, while inspiring another batman.. lol idk I;m just rambling now

Yes you could pick up from TDKR because Batman is a symbol but then it wouldn't be Bruce Wayne and that's just not going to fly with a lot of peeps.

Nightwing is Dick Grayson.  Period.  To have it otherwise is a retarded idea.  Batman is Bruce Wayne.  STOP FUCKING WITH THE COMICS.

I agree with Hanso.  WB should've put their foot down with Nolan and told him he had to put Batman in the DCU at least starting with TDKR.  It was a missed opportunity and the studio deserves criticism for not doing so.  As much as I loved the Dark Knight trilogy, I found it strange that Nolan chose to put Batman in the "real world" and strongly disagreed with his decision on that.  However, they can always reboot and abbreviate Batman's origin.  Joshua Jackson as Batman?  Sorry but I don't see it.  Ryan Gosling would be a much much better choice.

Not sure what you are agreeing with me on but Ive never said I wanted Nolan's Batman on any DCCU.  Im actually against the cinematic universes and would rather have single character based trilogies.

hanso 7/5/2013 4:08:20 PM

Actually I should say Im not against cinematic universes but prefer stuff like TDK trilogy where they tell a complete story for a character.

Daybreak0100 7/5/2013 11:14:18 PM

@AXIA77 Although I do agree with you, these are movies rather than complete comic strips put onto the screen. I know Grayson takes the mantle for Batman until his return, then later becomes Nightwing. But that's not how TDKR ended. It seemed to borrow from KNIGHTFALL and TDKReturns. If Blake would take the mantle until the League formed, then he could be NightWing? There are multiple Robins, so a new one all to it's own in a Nolan film isn't that weird.

I personally wouldn't want a new Bruce Wayne. I'm hoping that this is a rumor/distraction and that Bale will be involved in some kind of way... haha I say some kind of way.. Not that simple. He has to be Bruce Wayne. Psh I'll even take him as the face of Bruce/ then get some one else to play Batman. LOL We will wait and see what happens when MOS 2 comes out. Maybe and god I'm HOPING that a solo film comes out sometime around before or after MOS 2. And show some cameos rather than a few small easter eggs. Or taking the idea from @HANSO TDK trilogy could be complete, then a MOS trilogy, sometime during that a couple other movies come out (Wonder Woman, Aquaman, Flash, J'onn J'onzz) leading to a JL film.

Remember, Nolan set his trilogy in the "real world" as people are saying; but Gotham was still the name. Not New York. And same with MOS. "Real World" but there was Metropolis. Either way.. Please don't rush the JL film. I'm hoping they take their time. There is alot of talk about it being made, honestly it is a big deal. These are ICONIC superheroes. The best in the business. TDK trilogy cannot be forgotten so easily. Maybe to some of you (not all) but to the mass audience I don't think that would fly with alot of peeps

Daybreak0100 7/5/2013 11:55:41 PM

@DARTHBOB true when put into perspective that a man flying around in a red cape and a guy wearing a bat mask is indeed not as "serious" I should clarify thatI mean the directors should be taking it a little more seriously. The films just don't do it for me. No harshness towards anyone.

Moving forward.

That is all my opinion; though within that opinion I believe the Marvel films ARE Kiddie Flicks. DC is more adult oriented. With its tone and morality. I go to a movie to feel something.. not dull out. Too easy for Marvel to make money off of their films because Disney is behind them as well. They have some cool effects, but as far as tone/atmosphere.. c'mon I mean please go see a movie to enjoy it, that is the only point, but they didn't get everything right either. Most of their characters back stories have been written differently. IM3 was a tradegy to mankind IMO. I felt nothing for Captain America. I just new, like all nerds, that the Avengers trailer was to show at the end. That is after all what we were all waiting for since the first Iron Man. So yes, they got it right first.. but they have had their time. And I think anything after TDK and MOS will be copied to look like it in the trailers, but then disappoint me with a couple one liners and a crappy ending.
