I'm sorry, but I can't stand him. I liked the idea of Johnny Depp better.

Is Christian Bale opening the eye of Agamotto for Marvel in the near future? That's the latest rumor according to an unsourced article from an Aussie news site.
LiveNews reports that Bale is "said to be the number one choice" for the lead role in 'Dr. Strange' for Marvel. The report uses no on-record sources, so take this story with a massive grain of Vishanti enchanted salt.
According to the unnamed sources a deal is expected in "coming weeks."
The 'Dr. Strange' movie has received quite a bit of buzz in recent weeks, with Neil Gaiman stating that he's talked about collaborating with Guillermo del Toro on such a film. More recently Marvel cheif Kevin Feige has said he views 'Dr. Strange' as a top priority for the post-'Avengers' lineup.
If a heavyweight director like Guillermo del Toro does, in fact, become officially attached to the movie, then it's quite easy to see Bale wanting to take on the part. Of course, the project would then have to wait for the twin 'Hobbit films to clear, not to mention the dozen or so other movies del Toro is attached to.
What do you think? Should Christian Bale become the master of the mystic arts? Post your comments below.

If Del Toro were to sign on to direct we know then that a Dr. Strange movie is atleast 5 yrs. away. Batman 3 will have been released. Bale would be "contractually " done with WB/Batman. He might even be done with his Terminator sequels by then. So why not?
I liked bale in the PRESTIGE.. he made a really good magician. So add a lil mustache and goatee... and he could pull it off well. Depp would make a more interesting and deeper sense to the Doc... but Bale would be cooler (as long as he doesnt do anymore stupid shit with his voice). Either one will suffice.......
At least 5 years? It'd be more around 10. Del Toro has got both Hobbit films and a couple of other movies lined up. The guy is out of this unless he jumps out of all the other stuff he's doing. The Marvel dude was talking about a 2012-2013 date for Strange, ain't no way they get that with Del Toro.
They should forget about him and go after his fellow countryman Cuaron.
Marvel seems to be developing some sort of master plan for its movies, but what is that plan. If they keep using A-Listers to star in their films, they're setting up for a lot of eventual recasting down the road. What film series have kept the same actors past a trilogy? Lethal Weapon, Die Hard, Star Trek, any others? Creating a marvel universe film series is going to make that tricky for Avengers 2 or Civil War.
haha... good points AmishPirate... but i think you're thinking a lil too much and too deep into this. Let's get to atleast Iron Man 2 or Captain America filming, before we start talking about casting for the "Age of Apocalpse" movie triligoy, or X-Men Vs. the Avengers Movie extrvaganzas.......
haha
I say skip the origin story, jump right into a horror-tinged tale where Strange is called in like the Exorcist, and cast Pierce Brosnan as the Doctor. Nobody can rock a pencil moustache like Brosnan (and I'm sure he'd welcome another shot at a franchise...)
I don't know chaburchak, Timothy Dalton rocked a pretty sweet pencil 'stache in Hot Fuzz.
Halle Berry did it jumping from X-Men to Catwoman....but lets pretend that never happened.
The only thing I don't like is I would like to see a different actor for each comic book character. But with these characters being in different properties we don't have to worry about the individuals clashing together in a team-up film or anything. I like the idea of Bale but with all the films he is attached to and the director's they keep mentiong. I'm just gonna wait to comment about upcoming rumors till I can say fantastic choice once an actor is finally chosen.
Ok, first of all of course the man would make a cool Strange. What can't Bale do? Guy is a great actor and if he landed the role it would be awesomeness.
Having said that, I don't think this is remotely true since the man is Batman. I can't remember anyone going from one superhero to another. Cyclops jumped superhero franchises but not superhero roles, he's the only that comes to mind.
The Del Toro stuff has to stop, he can't direct this movie. He's already commited to some other films not to mention that book project he's got. I'm telliing ya, Marvel has to tap Alfonso Cuaron for the movie.
