Bandai Entertainment announced today they have acquired two new manga series, Tales of the Abyss: Asch: The Bloody and Tales of the Abyss: Jade’s Secret Memories. Bandai Entertainment had previously announced the acquisition of the 26 episode Tales of the Abyss anime series which will be coming to North America in June of this year.

Asch the Bloody by Hana Saitou and Rin Nijyo recounts the story of the anime from the point of view of the cloned God-General Asch. Jade’s Secret Memories focuses on the character of Jade Curtiss and is from manga-ka Ayumi Kano. Both the anime and the manga are based on the Tales of the Abyss RPG video game which will debut on Nintendo 3DS in 2011 and is based on the long running Tales series of games from Namco Bandai.

The new manga are scheduled to debut in the Summer of 2011.

I don't always understand Bandai. The Tales series is popular and this game was released on PS2 & will have a port for 3DS. They even get the manga because its based off the popular game. Yet they don't think its wise to dub the anime for a more wide appeal? I'm sure there's many fans of the game that would like to watch the anime with the same voice cast(which Bandai uses) that aren't really into subtitled anime.

I agree with Puck85 on this issue. I'm a major fan of the game and have been waiting for Bandai to release it dub since they announced it in July of last year. I find it ridiculous that Bandai would wait almost a year to release in in subtitle format. If they were going to wait this long, might as well released it in dub format because I don't believe it should have taken them this long to release it in subtitle format. So much for Bandai.
