Bandai's set their October release plans and it's pretty standard fare at this point with no surprises. They kick off the month with the announcement of delaying Gundam 00 Season 2 Part #3 from 09/21/2010 to 10/19/2010, which as stated certainly is no surprise. Past that, we've got the double hit of Kurokami arriving on DVD and Blu-ray and the seventh installment of Hayate the Combat Butler with five more episodes at far too high of a retail price, especially when compared against other titles they're releasing.

Cover Art Title Release Date Runtime Price Studio Format
Hayate The Combat Butler Part 7 10-19-2010 150 mins $39.98 Bandai Entertainment
Kurokami Part 3 10-05-2010 150 mins $29.98 Bandai Entertainment
Kurokami Vol. #03 10-05-2010 100 mins $24.98 Bandai Entertainment

Another crappy month for Bandai, and another major delay of one of their biggest shows. Move along people, nothing to see here.

yea agreed metroid with a 5 episode disc for 40 bucks Bandai must have delusions of gradure or someone in their research department is smoking a very strong drug I am begig to fear just how much the K-ON Box Set will cost and god help us if they release it in single volumes

Wait just a minute... Kurokami gets LESS episodes on Blu?   It's the same freaking volume, isn't it? And yes, I agree.  The way Bandai is handling Hayate is ridiculous.  Someone should try to fix that.

Also, why not just release Hayate as a season set already.  $40 for 5 eps is stupid and it's the main reason why I'm avoiding the show.  And I WANT to see it damn it!  I'm not paying Crunchyroll to see it.  I want to own it.  A SEASON AT A TIME not a piece at a time.

I think we should commend Bandai for being one of the few companies that are trying to bring a true and authentic otaku experience over to the US, using the combination of high prices and ludicrously low episode counts.

Hey, I know... let's let Crunchyroll take over the DVD release.  At least then THEY could give us good results on the release of Hayate.  I mean they're already showing it, why not take over for Bandai?  Their episode counts are really bugging me.  Why can't we just go back to the 24-26 episode packs, huh?  This treatment for Hayate is just irritating.
