HUMAN TARGET Delayed Until November

From a press release...

Season Two of FOX’s hit series Human Target will premiere Wednesday, Nov. 17 (8:00-9:00 PM ET/PT) on FOX.

Picking up from the heart-pounding first season cliffhanger, the new season of Human Target kicks off with a bang as Chance (Mark Valley) and Guerrero  (Jackie Earle Haley) race to rescue their kidnapped associate, Winston (Chi McBride). Vowing to retire from the security business, Chance is lured back to work by billionaire philanthropist Ilsa Pucci (new series regular Indira Varma), who needs his protection after the mysterious murder of her husband. While on assignment, the team encounters Ames (new cast member Janet Montgomery), a beautiful, chameleon-like thief who has a past connection to Winston.

Human Target  returns to Wednesdays, where last season it ranked No. 1 in its 8:00-9:00 PM time period among Adults 18-49, Adults 25-54, Teens and Total Viewers.

Latest Rumored PREACHER Director

If Darren Aronofsky actually directed as many movies as he's recently been rumored to be attached to, he'd be a busy, busy man.

Newsarama reports that the Black Swan helmer is "being targeted" for steering duties on the long-in-development Preacher movie, based on the critically acclaimed comics by Garth Ennis and Steve Dillon.

Now, the phrasing of "being targeted" is vague enough so as to be meaningless. Presumably Newsarama's anonymous source is saying that someone somewhere in the production chain likes the idea of an Aronofsky-helmed movie. Is it the one of the suits at Columbia Pictures that want him? One of the many producers on film? And what is the nature of this so-called "targeting"? Is he one of many director names on a list? Are they talking to him? Is anyone talking about an offer?

Previously, director Sam Mendes was firmly attached to the film, which has a script by John August. At some point in the summer, Mendes bowed out, leaving the producers to find a new helmer. Plans have called for the movie to go into production next year, so certainly a director choice is on the minds of Columbia and producers Neal Moritz and Jason Netter.

This is the third comic-based movie that Arononfsky has been rumored to be in orbit around in recent months. Previous talk had Hugh Jackman courting him to take the reins of  X-Men Origins: Wolverine 2 and more recent buzz had him chatting with producer Christopher Nolan about helming the Supeman relaunch.

It's unknown if Aronofsky is close to doing any of the three, but we'd say Preacher is probably closest to his out-of-the-mainstream sensibilities, and an Aronofsky-directed take on Ennis and Dillon's nasty comic appeals to us just fine.

Thanks to AntoBlueberry for the submission.

C2F Quick Hits

  • In case you missed them: Late yesterday afternoon we posted some photos of to ab-a-licious Laura Vandervoort back in heroic form for the "Supergirl" episode of Smallville. Click and view...
  • Variety reports that Tamara Drewe director Stephen Frears expressed his anxieties about releasing the movie in the United States during a Cinema Society screening at New York City's Crosby Hotel.

Some new photos from the set of X-Men: First Class have arrived on the internet courtesy of Bleeding Cool.

The photos were taken during some on-location filming in very public places in Oxford, UK. The photos were taken by a spectator with no special equipment so they aren't of the highest quality.

The first set of photos are from daytime filming and feature James McAvoy as Charles Xavier, Jennifer Lawrence as Raven Darkholme (Mystique) and Rose Byrne as Moria McTaggert (see below). The second set of photos are from the night time leg of the filming but are actually a bit sharper.

Interestingly, the posting of the photos have promoted some reaction from 20th Century Fox who sent the website a threatening "cease and desist" order. Bleeding Cool rightly points out that the legal threats are nonsense, given that that filming was occurring in a public location, that the photographer used no special long-lens equipment and did nothing to circumvent any security or location restrictions that the studio may have been enforcing.

Never the less, Bleeding Cool hedged their bets by excising all mention of the film and actors from their posting, and rather leaving them online as travelogue-style depictions of downtown Oxford.

Hit the links for the complete photo sets.

Millar Says NEMESIS Will Be Faithful

MTV Splash Page ran some interview material with Mark Millar about the movie version of his new comic Nemesis. Much of it re-hashes what is already known: Tony Scott is on board to produce and maybe direct. Millar likes Johnny Depp and Brad Pitt for the lead roles but no casting has been done. The movie is expected to carry a budget of about $150 million. All according to the hype-meister supreme, Mark Millar.

One interesting new point involves the look and feel of the film. Will it dump all the comic book and costume stuff the way Wanted did? Or will it be more faithful, a la Kick-Ass?

"I think it should be pretty much identical," Millar told MTV. "I mean, Tony and I talked at length about it. One of the [potential] directors said, 'I’d like the guy not to be in a white superhero costume,' and I thought, 'Well, that’s the whole point of it,' so we ended up not agreeing to do that. I think [Scott] is going to stay as faithful as he can. It’s a big studio picture, [so] we won’t have the same kind of control we had with Kick-Ass, which was a much more intimate affair, but I feel very confident in Tony’s hands."

Nolan, Caine talk BATMAN 3

In two separate reports, filmmaker Christopher Nolan and actor Michael Caine indicate that things may be coming together on the seemingly-inevitable Batman 3 movie.

Speaking with Empire Online, Nolan addressed a question that, for many, seemed a foregone conclusion.

"It’s becoming inevitable, I’ll put it that way," Nolan said when asked about the movie. "I feel myself falling into it, I guess. And getting it all figured out and I’m pretty excited about what we’re doing so… If I haven’t announced it, I think that people probably all know at this point that I’m doing it."

Not satisfied that Nolan had answered the question: Can fans assume that he's directing Batman 3?

"I think you can at this point, yes," was Nolan's reply.

Nolan has recently expressed that he's working on the script with brother and Dark Knight collaborator Jonathan.

Meanwhile Sir Michael Caine appeared on BBC Radio 1's The Chris Moyles Show this week, promoting his new autobiographical book "The Elephant to Hollywood". Superhero Hype reports that a portion of that segment turned to talk of the Bat-sequel.

"[Batman 3 will] probably start in May next year," Caine reportedly said. When asked if he'd return as Alfred Caine is quoted as saying, "I assume I'm there. In the movie business, you never believe anything, you assume."

He also deflected questions about the villain of the movie, saying the Nolan boys aren't telling anyone who that is.

Plans are for Batman 3 to arrive in theaters summer of 2012.

"It’s a big studio picture, [so] we won’t have the same kind of control we had with Kick-Ass."

They actually had control with Kick-Ass? uh yeah. Like the romance happy ending with Dave, the changed origin of Big Daddy and the stupid jetpack scene?

If they have less control than Kick-Ass, then this movie will blow.

Mayhem101878 9/30/2010 6:59:33 AM

I don't see what the big deal is with the X-men pictures they show NOTHING.

I did like the pictures of Smallville wow Supergirl is going to look great in costume.

I'm not sure what else this affronsky guy has directed but he sure seems to be in high demand.

Looking forward to more news for Batman 3

lracors 9/30/2010 7:24:34 AM

I'm siked to see a Preacher adaptation.  That will be really cool.

Vendervoot... ouch she's hot.

With Tony Scott attached to Nemesis i wouldn't worry about it being done badly.

Bats 3... more vague news lol at least we know it will eventually get done.

animefanjared 9/30/2010 7:27:47 AM

The word "inevitable" doesn't even begin to describe Batman 3.  It's one of the highest grossing films of all time, and unlike "Titantic" or to a lesser extent "Avatar," the superhero concept just lends itself to sequels.  I had forgotten Nolan wasn't officially announced to direct yet.  Everyone has just been talking about it like he's signed.

I just sincerely hope we don't run into "Spider-Man" syndrome with this third outing.  I feel like Sam Raimi had said everything he had to say about Spider-Man by the time he made the third movie, and that was one of the reasons it turned out so poorly.  I love Nolan and everything he's done with Batman, but I would rather see a new director make another solid movie than see Nolan just going through the motions.  Hopefully that won't happen.

Wasn't Preacher headed for HBO?  I thought that was the plan not long ago

Those X-Men photos are amazing. Rain in the UK, wow, that must be a first

I stopped buying Millar owned books so if Nemesis gets made I'm walking in fresh and I may sneak in just so he doesn't get any of my money

So the Batman news is really no news at all, lol, let the hype begin.

samurai1138 9/30/2010 7:52:54 AM

After loving Batman Begins and being thoroughly disappointed with The Dark Knight, I'm looking forward to Nolan hopefully redeeming himself on the third one. Now if you'll excuse me I have to go put my bullet proof vest on, I always get a hail of bullets coming at me for expressing my displeasure with Dark Knight.

LocoLobo73 9/30/2010 7:55:01 AM

I dont know what it is but i just cant get excited or even remotely tickled with anything coming out from Xmen, I guess Wolverine , really did bother me that bad, And yeah Singer is back, but honestly Superman really killed me too. Hell i buy every comicbook movie that comes out but i dont own Wolverine, thats how bad that was. Im hoping to be pleasantly surprised, by it. Id love to see a Preacher , film , I liked the original idea to have it as a HBO series, but im good with a movie version, oh and this is one movie that Aronofsky is made to do. Forget him for Superman, and get him for Preacher. Nemesis , who cares at this point.

Batman 3, thank god its offical, not that i didnt think it was going to happen regardless, Nolan is doing 3, I cant wait to see the final chapter of the Dark Knight, Please let this be finished up right. I know that Nolan doesnt want anyone playing with his toys, which is to say we will be seeing another Batman in the future so this might be the last time we get to see a great Batman film.

Oh and to finish up , I watched the new Superman / Batman: Apocalypse, and i have to say that it wa amazing, the art pays great homage to Michael Turners style of art. Its sad that they had to change the title to Apocalypse, and not had it Supergirl, like in the books, but i can live with that, Darkseid, could have had a better voice actor , but the fight scene between kara and Darkseid was Bloody Amazing, If you dont check out any other DC animation, Check this out A Must SEE for any comicbook fan!!!!!!!!!

ElBaz13 9/30/2010 8:05:19 AM

I'm with you samurai1138 so I will be in the same hail of bullets.

I didn't hate TDK, I just want to see a DC Universe Batman as opposed to a gritty crime drama (that's just me) so I don't expect that from Nolan for Batman 3. He will probably make the Riddler into a Hannibal Lecter type serial killer, leaving body parts and Se7ev like clues to Bats to try and find him.  Glad there will not be a Rachel Dawes though. The character and the actresses playing her sucked.

krathwardroid 9/30/2010 8:19:05 AM

Great updates here. I'm excited about X-Men: First Class.

The Nemesis bit sounds great, especially if they remain faithful to the source. I have read the comics so far and would like to see this as a feature film.

And good to know that Batman 3 is underway. I can also assume Michael Caine would be Alfred Pennyworth once more. And the villains? Ah, take your pick. I don't care. The movie will rock regardless.
