Warner Brothers and DC Comics have revealed their official logo for the 7th Anniversary of Batman (see below). In my straight forward, honest opinion, lame. What is even more ungratifying is that what Warner Brothers has in store this year for one of their seminal characters.
As the Hollywood Reporter said: “The highlight of the celebrations is the unveiling of a new 75th Anniversary Batman logo in stark black and white, with "75 Years of Batman" emblazoned below the graphic image”.
I really hope the biggest highlight is not that terrible logo. But wait there is more...
“Along with the logo, a ‘Cape/Cowl/Create’ art exhibit features contemporary artists giving their own twist on Batman's iconic cowl headpiece and cape from the upcoming Batman: Arkham Knight videogame.
Other milestones for the Dark Knight this year include "Batman Day" on July 23; new Batman titles from DC Entertainment and a new weekly series Batman Eternal launching April 9; new releases from Warner Bros. Home Entertainment including the Batman ’66 TV series for the first time; two new Batman animated shorts; and Fox's upcoming series Gotham, centered around a young James Gordon (known later as Commissioner Gordon)”.
So an art show, a terrible logo, a new TV series that fans are not excited for, a TV series we should have had 25 years ago, and more Bat comics in the New 52. Oh there is that bad ass video game. I can’t deny that the Arkham series isn’t incredible. I only bring this up because back in 1989, for the 50th anniversary, we had this little film called Batman. It only changed everything about superhero movies and launched one of the greatest cartoons of all time, Batman: The Animated Series.
What is even more depressing is that for Superman’s 75th Anniversary he had a new film and Warner Brothers released this tribute (seen below). Where is the Batman’s? It is probably one of the animated features spoken about above.
Hopefully there is more coming for Batman. What do you think Maniacs? Sound off below?
