Kemco USA has released BATMAN: DARK TOMORROW for Microsoft's Xbox and Nintendo's Gamecube. Unlike earlier Batman titles, DARK TOMORROW is based on the DC Comics version of the Dark Knight and not THE ANIMATED SERIES or movies, making this version of Batman more of a detective as well as dark and brooding.
The game's storyline was developed by BATMAN comic book writer Scott Peterson and FINAL FANTASY developer Kenji Terada and includes a number of familiar villains from Batman's rogues gallery as well as his allies. Arkham Asylum plays a prominent role in the game along with enemies lik Poison Ivy, The Ventriloquist, Killer Croc, Scarface, Black Mask and Mr. Freeze. Helping Batman solve the mysterious disappearance of police commissioner James Gordon are Batgirl, Oracle and his sidekick Robin.
DC Comics has also produced a special two-part comic book that acts as a prequel to the game's story. Over one million issues of the first part will be included in select video game magazines while the second instalment comes with the purchase of the game. Also of note is the game's musical score which was performed by Royal Philharmonic Orchestra.
BATMAN: DARK TOMORROW has been rated Teen and retails for $49.99.
