Ellen Tighe (Kate Vernon) and Boomer (Grace Park) arrive back at the Galactica with a warning: the "bad" Cylons want to recreate Resurrection. Ellen also does an ungodly amount of spooning with Saul (Michael Hogan)… despite the fact that he iced her and shacked up with Caprica (Tricia Helfer) in the interim. The remaining rogue Cylons want to leave the fleet, though Saul vehemently opposes the idea. Ellen remains undecided, and hers is the deciding vote.

Meanwhile Dr. Baltar's (James Callis) harem is hoarding food and guns--always a good sign among fringe religious organizations. Baltar aims to use their extra supplies to feed a starving group of people in Dogsville (and presumably gain some new recruits in the process) until a gang of thugs arrives and takes the food by force. The incident leaves doubts in his followers, which he overcomes with an inspiring speech (aided by his link to Number Six).

Ellen confronts Caprica about the whole "sleeping with my husband" thing (and the "pure Cylon pregnancy" thing which followed). Convinced that Saul now loves Caprica, Ellen decides that the Cylons should leave the fleet. Saul refuses to accompany them, despite Ellen's insistence otherwise. Ellen responds to his defiance with her usual cocktail of vicious, catty insults that apparently triggers a complication in Caprica's pregnancy. Ellen recants and allows Saul to remain with the ship, but it's too late: Caprica and the new baby both apparently die.

Baltar and Apollo (Jamie Bamber) bring the starving civilians in Dogsville to Adama's (Edward James Olmos) attention. Adama responds by providing military-grade weapons to Baltar's flock.

The Good

Another slow-paced episode that builds anticipation far more than delivering any excitement of its own. On the other hand, there aren't many episodes left to resolve things, so the payoff can't be far away. And the build-up on display here holds explosive potential. Take Baltar's flock and their newfound interest in big guns. Dirty Harry-style justice or a Waco-style revolt? Either way, they're going to make quite a lot of noise before all is said and done. Then there's the question of Adama's unease with the Cylon goop being used to repair his ship. When Adama gets edgy, bad things happen… which is usually when the show hits one of its numerous high points.

The Bad

For a devastating turnaround, the Cylon baby's death feels like a throwaway. Saul can cry on Adama's shoulder all he likes, it still doesn't hold the resonance it needs to. The Cylons' decision to leave also carries a curious sense of detachment, as if it doesn't really matter one way or the other what they'll do. There's a depressing lack of Starbuck (Katee Sackhoff) this episode as well, but we'll overlook it since she's apparently front and center next episode.

The Prognosis

Still a lot of questions to be answered and not much time left to do it. Presumably they show's creators aim to pack a lot into the last month. What was up with Sam's (Michael Trucco) comatose REM thing at the end of the episode? Is he back in the hands of the evil Cylons? Has there been some weird transference between him and the baby? We still don't know where (or whether) the fleet is going from here. Can they still make a go of it on Earth? Are they going to reform a civilian government anytime soon? And when/if the Cylons take off, what will happen to the humans they leave behind? Enquiring minds want to know.

This was a good episode but just as the review indicates it has a few problems. It was also good to see Ellen Tigh acting like the oversexed and vindictive b*tch we all know and love after seeing her so sage like in the last episode.

I personally didn't care for all the Cylon soap opera going on.  Ellen's back, let's have sex with Saul.  Oh no there's another woman.  I thought of you while I was banging the 6.  That's sad Saul. What?  She's pregnant.  Oh no you didn't Saul.  Why didn't we have babies?  You love her!?  You didn't love me enough?  Caprica 6 you win, I won't stand in your way of love.  Ellen it takes more to get pregnant cause Saul really  loved you.  Ok, we're leaving the fleet then.  Boo hoo boo hoo dead cylon baby.

Just didn't care for this episode.

I agree hanso.  There were only a few usefull things about this episode.  Ellen got back to the fleet, Sam got his brain back, the pure cylon baby died, uhh...that's about it.  They could have shown those three things in a 10 min. clip.  I'm sick of Baltar and his crazy female groupies.  Seems totally irrellivant.  The clips of next weeks episode were better than this episode.

I was so disappointed with this episode.  Only reason I give it a "C" grade is because of Baltar and the seeds of a very bad ending for him and his group being placed.

Otherwise I have to say..WTF was that!!!!   Ellen is one of the five who gets her memories taken away and becomes a skank slut who only cares about herself.  Well hey, if we had our memory erased and lived our lives again I'm sure they would be different too.  However, now she wakes up on a Cylon ship with all her memories and we find out she isn't a bad person.  In fact she was a fraking genius scientist who helped create the 7 models and she was actually a  person who seemed to have morals..what with the giving Cylons faith, etc.  Now she gets back to Galactica turns back into the skank slut who is now upset with Tigh for banging his child knowing he has his freaking memories erased so how the hell can he fraking remember he created number 6 and oh yeah...he thought Ellen was dead!

I would also like to know why the F didn't someone say to Ellen..."Hey, by the way, could you fill in the rest of the story that Sam was unable to finish?  Seeing how you remember everything."  Instead they have a soap opera debate because Ellen wanted to hurt Tigh and kill his baby.  I mean what was the point of all that?  To show us Cylons are no better than humans?  If that's the case I'm sorry but I already got that message as soon as the Cylon Civil War started.

What a waste of an episode.

Was it wrong that I laughed at Tigh and Adama's tender moment hug after the death of the lil' toaster? Horrible soap opera episode. Jane Espenson really dropped the ball on that one.

 Moving on.......

I liked this episode, as usual.

I think it is like Rob is saying, building up for an explosive climax, which is really what we all want right?

LADIES AND GENTLEMEN!!! AHEM, I actually agree with Robs review, and grade this week. Less snarkiness, and good thoughts. Good Job Rob!

I was shocked that Liam died, didn't want that to happen, AND thats HUGE maybe cylons can't procreat. Maybe tehy NEED humans after all.

Not an action packed ep. But a great tension building ep. B

BTW, at the end of the episode I was the only person in the theater to clap and cheer. So I knew I'd be reading bad comments about the ep here today.

I thought the moment between Saul and Adama was powerful.  Adama seemed to be keep Saul at a distance ever since his coming out, and trying to drink himself out of life at the same time.  The death of a child made Adama break his walls and now his relationship with Saul is stronger.

I thought Baltar was going to turn everything around 2 episodes ago.  It was dissapointing to see him at his old ways, but at least the visions are back.

I thought this episode was just an example how the Cylons easily fall back into their comfortable rolls.  Hopefully Anders has some answers for everyone next week.

Not one of the better episodes.

At this point, I just want everything explained. This is getting way too confusing.

One month left, no need for table sex.

I thought this was a solid episode. I gots to admit that I was really expecting a lot less from the show after the season finale last year and the opener this year, but since ep 2 it's been hitting it out of the park for me. Lot of set up in this episode but what it's setting up for has me really excited.

Love seeing Ellen revert to her old ways. I guess living on a dry baseship can really mellow one out.

Glad to see some Old School Baltar again as well and that they haven't decided to ignore the Number Six in his head like they've ignored the glowing spine sex. Looking forward to the explanation of her and Caprica Six’s Baltar head guest.

Speaking of Caprica I don't think she died this ep. Thought that was just the baby and then Doc kicked everyone out because he had "some work to do" to keep Cap alive. So sweet that they killed her baby though. Remember when she so callously snapped that baby's neck at the beginning of the mini-series? Little different feeling when ya know the kid personally, eh Caprica?

Liked the return of Boomer too. Loved the way Chief called her out.

Starbuck suggesting watching Ellen & Tigh make out was like watching her parents. Whaddaya think that was foreshadowing?

I really thought the Final Five (Oh wait! Final Six! Watch me pull a Cylon out of my ass!) was sending the show in the wrong direction and this season was going to fall apart but Moore really proved me wrong. I'm enjoying this show way more this season then I thought I would. Can’t wait for these last four episodes.

Personally, I thought this episode was a B as well. My thoughts though are that the baby didn't actually die but indeed 'uploaded' into Sam, this moment being the miracle he spoke of before he went into surgery. He told Tigh to stay with the fleet no matter what. Also, what if after the surgery, Sam actually partially uploaded into Caprica's baby, mingled with one another's consciousness, etc, and now he is reloaded back into his sbody but with the knowledge of the baby. Either way, it will be very hard to not look forward to this show. I still don't know what to think about the Caprica series.
