According to Gaming Report, Margaret Weis Productions will release a role playing game based on the popular series Battlestar Galactica.

The game will be set in space and focus on the challenges of survival in the exceedingly trying times.  The game will use the same system as the Serenity game which was produced by the same company.

"When we established our company we made the commitment to produce character- and story-focused role-playing games using the best source material we could find,” Weis said in a press release. "Battlestar Galactica is the kind of science-fiction that we do best, where the drama and characters are more important than the guns and the gadgets. The very survival of the human race is at stake in the series, and exploring the story possibilities in the setting can make for some very exciting games."

The core product is expected to premier in the spring.

KJ's Take:  Not my cup of tea, but the Serenity game was fairly well received so it should be in capable hands.

If this game is remotely like KOTOR, which I pray that it is, then I will pick it up...if not...then its a shame..

This is a pen and paper RPG, so it won't be anything like KOTOR. Though a computer RPG would be pretty darn cool.

I'm looking forward to this. I've never been into RPG or MMORPG until WoW. I also hope they release a space fighter game like the previous one set up in the re-imagined universe. The first one rocked and was a bit of a sleeper.

HAHAHA

The BSG was not a sleep hit, it wasn't a hit. It failed, and no one but you liked it. Honestly you are the only one I ever heard that said great things about the game.

Yeah, so what's your point? I said it was a sleeper because not too many people even knew it existed because of the timing it came out. Besides, have you played it yourself or do you always let people make up your mind by what they say?

Do you like having gay sex and getting fucked up the ass? No? Do you always let people make up your mind by what they say?

Whoa, where did that come from? Sounds like someone has something on their mind besides video games.

Whoa indeed. With the quick, seemingly reflexive attack on Battlestar Galactica and the pointless homophobic slur, I wonder if "bdd" is good ole' Spider967 hanging out in disguise. If not BDD, my apologies, but you do have to admit that your tone seems a little on the confrontational and aggressive.

To stay on topic, I never saw the Serenity game, but I am intrigued. I actually liked the pre-D20 sci-fi game that Wizards put out. Dark Matters was their modern campaign setting, but I can't remember the name of the space opera one. Oh well...
