According to a recent interview with producer David Weddle, fans may be shocked and angry at some of the upcoming plot of Battlestar Galactica.

"In the second half of this season, you can expect many stunning surprises and revelations," said Weddle. "We will experience the devastating loss of a much loved character who is central to 'Galactica,' and it will shake the crew to the core."

"I imagine many fans will be outraged and screaming for our heads," continued Weddle. "But others may take comfort in the fact that every time we upset the chessboard and scatter the pieces, it opens the door to many new provocative and exciting stories in the season to come."

Weddle also talks about the possible renewal of the show and how it depends on the ratings over the next two months.

You can read his full interview with Syfy Portal here, and you can catch the show Sunday's at 10pm ET.

KJ's Take:  I really can't say much as I don't watch the show ... so this news really doesn't interest me.

Hmm, that means its either Adama, Roslin, Apollo, Baltar or Starbuck. Anyone else wouldn't upset too many people. Tigh, I could care less. Dualla just to get her out of the way for a Apollo/Starbuck longterm thing. But she's not central to the show. Definitely not Baltar because he's vital ito showing the Cylon side of the story now that they are just doing what they think is right and aren't really evil anymore. I can live with Roslin or Apollo going. For real shockers that narrows it down to either Starbuck or Adama. Adama is the heart and soul of the ship and it's been done before and but by releasing this news it predictable. I say it's Starbuck. She's been taking a backseat recently and although she's great she doesn't make the show like Adama and isn't as likeable as the original Starbuck from '78. Hate to see her go.

it could be Adama too... he's certainly been more than a father figure to the entire crew, If Edward James Olmos leaves the show, I suspect many people would stop watching.

however... it was hinted earlier in the first season that Adama was "most definitly" a Cylon.... if true that would REALLY twist some bolts with the fans.
There is some big secret regarding the final 5 cylon human models that they are not talking about... and Baltar is hell bent on finding out the faces of the final five... and if HE's one of them! (personally i dont think he is though)

They could kill off anybody on the show. Somehow it doesn't really matter to me. I don't have any sympathy for most of the characters on the show except Dee, Sharon, Helo and Gaeta perhaps (don't take me wrong. They are all very well written and interesting, but most of them are simply assholes)! A death brings on the story in a character driven show. Weddle is right about that.

It is a little sci fi element that I miss much more in Galactica recently. I know I will eventually never get it there. But it might make the show perfect.

Right now, with the end of SG1, Atlantis is the only space based scifi show left. I hope that the second spin off will be a success when it airs. I don't want this kind of scifi to die.

And Caprica? Please don't let this happen! Resist the beginnings!

I mean no offence and I may well be alone on this, but I've often felt that this "KJ's Take" thing would fit in a lot better as a Comment than as a tail on the article, since it never contains any actual news. That said, this one wouldn't even make a meaningful message board comment. I think KJ shouldn't feel compelled to add his Take to every single news item. Again, no offence.

And I comment like "I don't watch the show so I don't care" is kind of insulting to those who DO watch the show, implying as it does that the show isn't worth caring about. So why report the news in the first place?

mosgza • Jan 20, 2007, 10:13am •
Yeah, why force a "take" if you don't even have one? Sorry Karl, it's just a bit unnecessary!

WarCry • Jan 20, 2007, 10:38am •
To be fair to Karl, if he DIDN'T report the news, you all would have been fast to kill him. The 'KJ's take' is something on all his stories. At least he didn't make something up to blow sunshine at us....

--As for who's going, this has been asked at TVGuide.Com for a few weeks, and there resident spoiler-guru still insists it is NOT Starbuck....

If BG stays in step with its own internal mythos then I have to think the Prez is the one to die. The reason I say this is that when she was having all of the "dreams" the priestess told her that the leader "Her" would not live to see earth. Now you could say it was all just drug dreams but they did find the path to earth with the arrow of Athena so I don't discount it.

they still have one simple problem: the Cylons.
This plauged the show back in the 80's too... and "new Caprica" should have told them one thing... you simply cannot relocate anywhere in the universe with the Cylons following you at your backs. I was a bit confused as to why the Cylons needed Baltar to locate Earth when they could just simply follow Galactica whereever they go. Unless of course the Cylons wanted to find Earth first and have a meet and greet when Galactica finally showed up?

jedi4sshield • Jan 20, 2007, 02:41pm •
Hmm Let's see. I dont think Adama would be a cylon cause that would mean Apollo is a cylon offspring, unless Adama was killed at some point when Apollo was away and replaced. Still you have to account for the fact of knowledge. I dont think the cylons are capable of duplicating a persons memories and incorporating them into someones body. It would have to be someone who doesnt have children of their own and a history that is questionable. Then again this is just my silly speculation.
