Director Michael Bay might be all about the action genre but as a producing capacity, he's all around the map. Beyond the recent news that one of his production companies is pondering turning Hansel & Gretel into a 3D action-adventure, Heat Vision is reporting that Paramount Pictures has bought an alien-related pitch from new writer Bobby Glickert and that Michael Bay has jumped on board to produce. Bay will be overseeing the project alongside Steven Schneider, who's currently producing Paranormal Activity 2 for Paramount.

Plot Concept: The story has been described as Cloverfield meets Paranormal Activity and will be getting the Area 51 treatment.

Now you want to hear the weird part of this news piece? I mean, beyond that plot description above that includes three titles in one? The same studio, Paramount Pictures, has offered Paranormal Activity helmer Oren Peli with directing an adaptation based around Area 51. Read the news above, the plot concept above, and the helmers above and ask whether Paramount is playing with fire here. Sound off below.

Hey I have an I dea...let's just put a bunch of random movie titles in a hat and pull them out and make a movie! Ok...I drew "The Maltese Falcon"! ...I drew "Steel Magnolias"!...I drew "Beethoven"! Awesome, our new movie is going to be about Aliens That drive big semi rigs across the country to save the woman they love!...Cool!...But Michael, that doesn't make any sense....Yeah but I can just blow shit up when stuff starts to get weird!....Cool!

Why with billions of dollars and the best talent on earth at their disposal, can't Hollywood just make good movies?

Despite what a lot of people say, one has to concedet that Bay is a great action director. Personaly I think that the man should put on his business card :

Michael Bay

I Direct car Chases.

Really Well.

His other work generally sucks something awfull, which leaves us to wonder: when will great artists stop insisting on being lousy businessmen/women? Directorial process is a very complicated endevour and often requires full dedication and concentration. Involving one self in the financial aspect of a movie-making process is an express way to an ulcer and a box-office failure. There are countless films currently in production which could greatly benefit from the technical experience of Bay.

Just don't give him control over the finances. It's like releasing a mosquito in a nudist colony.

Manatees picking ping-pong balls from a big tank.  South Park was almost right.  It's not just Family Guy, it's all of Hollywood.

When I read the title, I was really scared because I thought Michael Bay wanted to get his hands on the Alien franchise.  If he's doing his own new story more power to him.

Bay is only producing.

What's up with all the alien stuff we've been getting lately. Tons announced or previewed at comicon and there's no stopping. Anyway I'm cool with that cause some of them have to be good just because the odds

So, based on the plot concept above I assume that either Manhattan or Los Angeles will be haunted by the ghost of an angry giant alien that has been kept prisoner by the US Government
