Michael Bay ruined Transformers, why not TMNT?  The best Transformers movie was Transformers the Animated movie.  Now the best Turtles movie will continue to be the 90's movie with the muppet turtles that was actually pretty faithful to the comics and cartoon.

I just hope that one day I never hear these words:

"Michael Bay just announced that he will direct the new <Batman, Superman, or any JLA member/team> movie."

Actually, my biggest problem with this MNTT (I can only assume from the article & comments that we are trying to see how many times we can screw up the TMNT acronym) announcement is that Bay is so confrontational with the fans.  Seems to me like he is just giving everyone the finger, rather than trying to reassure them.  Yes, he's the director and can do what he wants.  However, the end goal is to get those same fans (and everyone else) to see the movie.  I'd try and lure them in with honey and not vinegar, but that is just me.

I always liked the origin. It was basically the radioactive material that mutated Matt Murdock into Daredevil.

Not sure what to think of this. I'm guessing they want to relate them to aliens because it might be easier to tie in the alien stuff that happened in the cartoons (Krang, Technodrome)

If I'm not mistaken, the Turtles were involved in an alien civil war in the early Mirage comics. (I would have to go back and check my issues) so it's possible.

He could make changes but it better not be too much. You need Splinter, Shredder, the Foot Clan, Casey Jones and April O'Neil for this. If none of these characters are in it, then it's not a TMNT movie. Oh, if they have Casey Jones, better not be Shia.

He's the producer, Jonathan Liebesman is the rumored yet to be announced director

Anyway if memory serves don't the TMNT origins have some alien themes or is it just their villains?

Michael Bay is an arrogant a$$hole who likes to see how far he can bastardize a product. Why else would he act the way he does? Oh that's right: because people still pay to watch his crap. Keep giving this guy money and you'll keep getting this total disregard for the source material.

Im a long time die-hard TMNT "man-child" fan. And when i first heard this news i was pretty damn upset. But as i thought about it more, it seemed like all he's changing is the very very beginning of their origins. Like they are baby turtle eggs sent here from space for whatever reason, instead of being mutated here. If that's the case, i guess im ok with that. As long as they keep the original themes that made them fun, such as their love for tv, pizza, and goofing around like teens. This is all plausible as long as they grew up on earth from when their lil babies.. Only real question is how does Splinter come into play?? Does he come from the same planet?? Are they gonna just use a human ninja master to train them and call him Splinter?? That would be pretty upsetting but that is the last thing I would let slide.

Other than that, they really need to make this gritty and darker like the comics were and like the creators have been promising the next TMNT film would be. If it were my way, i'd make it rated-R with Leonardo lopping off heads, and Raph sticking his sais into faces, but that's just me.

Wise-It's just the villains i think ur talking about. There is an evil brain named "Krang" from dimension X. haha, man that sounds pretty damn silly reading that as a man-child now.....

Wiseguy 3/21/2012 9:16:01 AM

I thought the last cgi film was pretty gritty. I know I loved it.

LOL violator, yeah I'd like to see that version of TMNT that you'd do. Let's have Donatello create some real life like TMNT females and let's see a  turtle orgy too.

I hate Bay...the man is a freaking doorknob.  Wise, I'm surprised you don't mind this considering how much you hate how Fox messed with the X-Men.  In any case, why change the story?  I never understood this.  If you're going to change it...then don't even call it what it is, call it something else and make a completely new story.  But if you're going to call it TMNT, then do it justice and make it what it is and not what it isn't.  If you want to make alien space turtles, then my all means go right ahead, just don't call it TMNT.  Or better yet, make something NEW for crying out loud.  Not that Bay could ever do that, but maybe with some help he could come up with something original.  Anywho...rant off.

This reminds me of the explosion of fan hate that arose when details of the McG Superman screenplay leaked.  It changed Lex Luthor into a Kryptonian, and half the Internet went batshit.  The production fell apart soon after.  Perhaps the same fate is in store for Bay?  We can only hope.
