I am a huge TMNT fan. And I have come to accept no one will ever be completely true to a comic movies continuity.  But making the Turtles come from another planet would be like if Bay made his Transformers be created by a mad scientist on earth.

The 4 turtles and the ooze is as much of a crucial part to the Turtles origin as Cybertron is to Transformers.

I am so much of a TMNT fan that I will be sucker enough to go see this in theatre and in 3D. :P

Just want to add I had no clue that in the original comics, the ooze originated from space. Was really only about the cartoon, games, movies and toys. Now that I see that, I am gonna see how this all plays out before passing any judgement. Cause it could very well be a play on that and not huge ass turtles beaming down from a flying saucer, as MBay's comments came off as.

Also wanted to add I am not a MBay hater like alot of folks. I was never that big into Transformers, so any changes he made I wasn't aware of or noticed cause I am not extremely versed in Transformers lore.

And where is that picture from included in the article? Is that official art from the movie? Just wanted to point out how badass it was.

I suppose He Man better watch out.  Bay could get his hands on that too.

YOU PEOPLE NEED TO BACK OFF MB . HIS MOVIES ARE ALL ENJOYABLE AT LEAST TO ME AND THE RECORDS SHOW THAT TO MILLIONS OF PEOPLE TO . SO BACK TO THE TNMNT EVEN IN THE SHORT LIVEDTV. SHOW THEY HAD SOME KIND OF SPACESHIP AND EVEN TIME TRAVEL  STUFF. SO YES THAT IS ALL ALIEN MATERIAL NOT TO MENTION THAT THE OOZE WAS OF ALIEN ORIGIN. AND DID YOU ALL KNOW THERE WAS AT ONE  POINT IN THE SERRIES A FEMALE TNMNT? SEE THIS IS WHY I HATE THE SO CASLLED FANBOYS CRY BOUT SHIT YOU HAVE NO FULL FACTS OF.

aegrant 3/21/2012 7:21:39 PM

Damn I didn't know people felt this strongly about TMNT

thezillaman 3/21/2012 7:25:37 PM

ABOUT THE TNMNT, IN THE SHORT LIVED TV. SHOWS THEY EVEN HAD A FEMALE TNMNT, THAT'S RIGHT PEOPLE TRUE AND SHE HAD A SPACESHIP, IN WICH SHE CAME TO EARTH TO SAVE THE POWERRANGERS IN ONE OF THE EPISODES. ALSO THE OOZE WAS OF ALIEN ORIGIN. AND LAST BUT NOT LEAST IF THE ORIGINAL PRODUCERS OF THE TNMNT HAVE NO PROB WITH THE CHANGE, THE ONLY REASON YOU DO IT5'S BECAUSE YOU NDON'T HAVE ALL YOUR FACT'S RIGHT ABOUT THE REAL ORIGIN OF THE TNMNT..

Just bought Volume 1 of IDW's Mirage TMNT Ultimate Collection and am still getting into their new comic series.  For me, aside from probably the first live action movie, the only TMNT that holds any personal significance is the original comic version.  Bay's gonna do whatever he wants with the characters and their origins, regardless of how the fans feel.  I'll admit that the "alien race" idea has me a little curious about how the story will play out, but nothing to totally turn me off of the project at this time.  I'll wait until he makes Shredder the Turtles' real father or casts Kristen Stewart as April O'Neil...THEN I'll give up on this film having a chance in hell...;)

@Zillaman- is that you Michael Bay?? Haha

jedi4sshield 3/21/2012 11:48:48 PM

Thanks thezillaman for informing me of the Creators being in on the project, I wasn't aware of it. In this case I will take it upon myself to feel deeply sorry for them! How they betrayed their own idea's and concepts. I see that it's really all about money now and less on their own established continuity. Even if it means no longer acknowledging the Turtles already established origin so be it. Money talks people, money talks! Bay has them hook line and sinker!

:::Stepping back into the Shadows (Ninja Style)::::

How can they call this movie TMNT then? Unless on another planet, teenaged reptiles with shells get mutated by an ooze created by a humanoid, learn karate, then somehow are transported to Earth. Shouldn't they just abandon the whole TMNT concept and create new creatures from another world that happen to be ninja's? This proves Hollywood is bankrupt of ideas.
