how about Spielberg direct the next Transformers?

It seems that some media outlets knows Michael Bay's future better than the director himself. Two months after Hasbro's chief Brian Goldner told investors that development on a fourth Transformers adventure was in the works, Vulture reports that not only is the sequel a go but that Paramount Pictures and director Michael Bay are finalizing a deal which places him at the helm once again.
There's only one small issue in regards to the report. Bay denies it. Following the news, here's what he had to say on his official website.
"Right now I'm not decided on Transformers 4. Studio's are passing rumors but I'm not sure what I'm doing? I know I'm going to do Pain and Gain early spring but that's it for right now. I'm leaving all my options on the table. I've got several Studio meetings in the next two weeks."
The statement seems to fall in line with what he's been saying for years. At the moment, his focus is centered on the dark crime comedy Pain and Gain, a project which could lock in Dwayne Johnson and Mark Wahlberg as the leads.
Thanks to Chopsaki for the submission.
NNNNOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!
Can we please have Spielberg, or Cameron or something helm these now. Maybe Peter Jackson too.... just no more mindless robots with stupid/wrong personalities Bay Transformers.
Pain and Gain after reading the article it's based on sounds to me like something the Coen Brothers should do. Still I'm very interested to see what Bay does with it. Wahlberg and The Rock seem perfect for the lead roles, I hope it happens.
As for Transformers, I too wish they would pass the reins. I'd like to see someone else's vision. But the amount of money Bay made on that last one alone, never mind the first two, is absurd and I'm sure his deal would allow for him to make a similar amount provided the film performs. That's hard to say no to regardless of how much money you have
If Bay makes another Transformers movie it's "pain" for us fanboys but "gain" for their wallets.
No more Bay-formers!
I thought Bay was mentally exhausted from spending most of the last 6 years working on Transformers. Then again, it's likely Paramount is willing to up his payday for TF4, and he's never one to run from the moolah. I'd like to see a new director's take on Transformers too, but I don't see a heavyweight like Spielberg or Peter Jackson taking over the reigns. I think Louis Leterrier could make a great Transformers film.
Bay needs to show some integrity and step away from this, he doesn't need the money but I think he might be craving some cred for being a director who can deliver more than just a big show of lights and fire and this Pain and Gain sounds like a perfect opportunity for him to show that he can make a movie without 10months of post work required. I dont' care who steps in, transformers can take a break for all I care at this point, but we all know they won't, I just hope they don't hire some chump to deliver an even emptier film than the last one was. At least Shia won't be whining and trying to act tuff all over it.
@jackwagon: How could the Transformers movies mentally exhaust anyone?
@wish: He's done that already with The Rock and Bad Boys. If Bay were craving that type of cred, why didn't he continue to make more films like The Rock or Bad Boys (I think the sequel is closer to Transformers than Bad Boys, fwiw)? He's made one really good movie and one fairly good movie in his entire career. The rest has been focused on trying to fit as many explosions as possible on screen. Although, maybe Transformers tired him of just making things go boom, though.
I would love to see Bay do another Bad Boys type movie with The Rock and Mark Wahlbeg,,,that would be cool...move on from Transformers....I loved the movies, but I want to see Bay do something else...
