TwentiethCentury Fox kicked off the most exciting studio presentation at Comic-Con Internationalin San Diego with an appearance by king of the world James Cameron. Cameronpresented a clip from the upcoming film Solaris, which he isproducing for the studio. The movie is based on the novel by Stanislaw Lem. It'sdirected by Steven Soderbergh and stars George Clooney (both of Ocean'sEleven).
The producer,director also announced that he is developing the manga/anime property BattleAngel Alita as a feature film.
Fans also werewitness to a chapter in the ongoing saga of Dan Poole who directed the cultindependent movie The Green Goblin's Last Stand. Poole filmed thelow-budget, high-octane adaptation of Spider-Man in hopes of getting Cameron'sattention a decade ago, when the filmmaker was attached to the big-budget Spider-Manmovie. In front of the panel crowd, Poole asked Cameron to look at the tape, inspite of the fact that producer now has no involvement with the movie franchise.Poole achieved his dream of getting his film in front of Cameron when, aftersome cajoling on the part the crowd, the filmmaker accepted a copy of the DVDfrom Poole.
