There's nothing as loud as a demon baby crying in the middle of the night.

What They Say:
Oga's family is seriously worried about Baby Beel's night crying, as it's causing everyone in the entire town to lose sleep. They try all kinds of things but nothing works. Oga heads to school, completely exhausted, as do the other students looking for a fight. Everyone ends up asleep, dreaming...

When dealing with a demon lords baby, we've seen a lot of simple situations that have come to light where the exaggerated effects of being a baby are brought into play. The temper tantrums alone have been fun with the electricity and the like, but the one coming to light now involves Beel having some very bad times at night which leads to him crying a whole lot. A lot. So much so, and so loud, that it disturbs seemingly the entire town, which leads to a lynch mob starting to form outside the house that even Oga's father can't grovel enough for to try and appease them. Hilde has the right idea though by wanting to go out and just slay all of them, but Oga manages to convince her otherwise and to get help from her in trying to soothe little Beel.

The family and Hilde do try to do whatever they can to help Beel, but the exhaustion for most of them is hitting them hard, which makes it all the more frustrating to deal with. It is fun watching how Beel rides Oga like a horse, but that only leads to more pain and suffering, which is what all the suggestions are like. Doing that for a few hours just isn't easy or sustainable. The attempts to placate Beel, who doesn't look tired in the slightest, are comical, and Oga's father starts to take the brunt of the pain as well. There is a disconnect with some of them though since Oga spends so much time with him, so he knows Beel likes being scared by certain things but Oga's sister doesn't and continues to beat up Oga for it. Of course, that makes Beel happy too.

While we initially see the impact on the immediate residents, we see just how far ranging the problem is when Oga goes to school and everyone is dead tired, falling asleep everywhere, because Beel has finally managed to nap himself a little bit. The level of exhaustion is well portrayed and the dreams that several of them have are pretty amusing, especially with Aoi having wedding dreams of Oga that goes pretty badly for her. School life is harsher than home life for Oga since at least at home, his father is dealing with the various people that come by. At school, for different reasons, all the students are trying to kick his rear, which with them all feeling so tired, is fun to watch since they're struggling just to do anything. All of it is just killing time while waiting for Hilde to come back with the toy that Beel needs in order soothe the savage baby.

In Summary:
Beelzebub has a fun episode and it splits the story fairly well with the home life in the first and the school life in the second as both deal with the lack of good sleep. But it does feel like it's a gag that's drawn out just too far, one that would have been better suited to a half episode story than a full length one. The show as a whole has plenty of fun moments to it from different angles and I rather liked the school segment since so many people were just plain tired and almost apathetic, but still find the strength to try and get into a fight or two for different reasons. Beel's got some cute moments as well, but the main fun is in watching Oga being put through the wringer once again.
