Kraken, you said what I was about to mention.  That Spiderman costume is a stunt costume, which means it's somewhat similar to the actual one, but has to have certain changes to it for the stunts, so for the most part I'm not gonna rip on it...yet...because the image released last week with Garfield in the suit looked fairly good (but there was no mask...so not sure about that part yet).

Hey Wise Guy Us Canadians "pay" higher Taxes to pay for medical care plus are country doesnt keep giving tax breaks to the rich and spending billions on defense contracters. But its ok as A forgiving Canadian I will Greet you with Arms wide open when you move hear after America goes bankrupt or becomes a part of China(the do hold most of your countrys debt if you didnt know) But as A canadian I DONT WANT TO SEE A CAPTIN CANUCK MOVIE because Captin Canuck is Lame. And again Spider mans suit Sucks Balls!

RANT OVER.

Yeah, none of this was really good news today, aside from Hemsworth's vague comments about Avengers.

Wonder Woman - corporate executive and vigilante?!  WTF?!?!  FAIL!

Captain America - Yeah, I don't really care.  It's a movie by Americans for Americans (although the French and British damn well better love it, since we bailed their asses out of WWII - and this film is another acknowledgment of that).  Russia?  Who cares.  That broke-ass country won't account for more than a pittance of ticket sales anyway.  South Korea should show a little more gratitude - that country only still exists because we maintain an entire Army Division there on the border to prevent Kim Jung Il from annexing the rest of the peninsula.

War Machine - yeah, he's a second tier Iron Man alternate, at best.  He does NOT need his own movie.  He's good as a cameo or supporting character in Iron Man, but that's it.  There are SO many better heroes to put into a feature film: Black Panther, Ghost Rider (WITHOUT Nick Cage, and done by Marvel!), Dr. Strange, another Hulk film, etc.

Superman - frankly, he's been done.  To death.  Give it a rest.  We all need to forget Brandon Routh and Smallville, before another swing at Superman is done.

Spider-Man - non-organic webshooters = win (although minor - I didn't really care about that little change in the last films).  The rest of that costume = FAIL.  I'm not even a particular fan of Spidey, but that just doesn't look right.

Jonah Hex - Only 2 Razzies?  I'm guessing the rest of the movie was so bad, it didn't even merit acknowledgment by the Razzies.

The Spiderman suit looked cool in the one teaser shot of Garfield but it doesn't look that great in motion. Its like its been painted on with..paint.

It sounds like they are basically turning Wonder Woman in Batman for the TV Show.

As far as the change from Capt America: The First Avenger to The First Avenger... who cares! It won't effect anyone on here unless they live in one of those foreign markets. The reasoning behind the change is stupid but they change names of movies when resleasing to foreign markets all the time. The first Harry Potter was changed for U.S. audiences because the studio thought they wouldn't understand what a "Philosophers Stone" was and Sorcerer sounded cooler.  Its no big deal.

I would rather see the new Secret Wars SpiderMan suit than this "thing"

Hobbs 1/24/2011 11:28:05 AM

South korea, really?  You can't say Captain America in a country that wouln't even be here if it wasn't for us?  For shame, for shame.

Wonder Woman, huh?  I read that twice before I realized it wasn't Wonder Woman i was reading.  I reserve judgement but it's never a good thing when you change the character.

flinshadytoo 1/24/2011 11:29:01 AM

Meh, Meh Meh! Most of the News is so so. Think it's dumb to change Captain America title as that's who he is & what's the movie about! That said I can see why people could dislike the USA when I read some of the stupid comments on here, if you are going to big up your own country can't you do it without trying to p*$$ off almost every other one whilst doing it. I'm from the U.k & I'm not very patriotic but when I read some of the crap you dudes have written it make me sad that you think you represent you country by sounding totally xenophobic. Yeah nice one.

Hobbs 1/24/2011 11:37:08 AM

Flinch, those billions we spend on defense contracts keeps your country safe as well or do you really believe Canada could hold off a foreign aggressor all by yourselves?  As far as China owning us...yup, good chance of that if we don't repeal obamacare.  Hard to compare Canada costs vs. 300,000 mil Americans.

WW and the vigilante thing-  My roommate and I have been re-watching Justice League lately and have noticed Diana and Batman have similar personalities. She has an edge to her.   If they haven't completely eliminated the Amazons from the show, maybe she's helping Man's World covertly at first? In every version I can think of, Hypolita didn't want her to go. Maybe she's on the run, so to speak?

I think it's a good movie to move away from Routh as Superman. His resemblance to Reeve will always make the audience think of the original films. A new Superman, who looks nothing like Reeve, will help distance the film from the previous ones.

I don't like the extra color lines on Spidey's costume. They don't work very well. Why change the costume? That doesn't make any sense. When are producers/directors going to get out of their own way when it comes to super hero films? It's idiotic to make superfluous changes to leave your stamp on the character. Give the built-in audience what they're looking for and you'll have good word of mouth on the internet which will fill more seats with people who may not have grown up reading of the character's expoits in comic books.

I hope the producers don't stray too far away from the "classic" Wonder Woman look and backstory. The vigilante comment makes me a little nervous. SciFi decided to change The Phantom last year and really destroyed what could have been a promising show. Please don't change her costume too much from the classic look. The costume she has now is shit; sorry, but she's just not Wonder Woman anymore. She reminds me more now of Black Widow in the laste 80s/early 90s. Crap redesign on the costume. Wonder Woman's costume is like Superman's; bright and bold, a beacon of hope to the helpless. The new costume does give that feeling anymore.

It's funny, but the only thing I care about on Smallville is Lois and Clark's storyline. The "freak of the week" or other stories really don't matter much to me.

I was expecting the drop of Captain America's name from the title of his movie. I think that's what they had in mind when they gave it the First Avenger tag. I guess I don't have a problem with it. Let's face it, this movie is going to sink or swim on the money it makes stateside so I could care less what it does in the rest of the world (no offense intedned to any Maniacs overseas).
