DC Unleashes the Watchmen

By Robert T. Trate     May 15, 2012
Source: DC Comics

Yesterday DC Comics released covers of their Before Watchmen books. Each cover was released through various outlets but has been collected here for you below.
One of the seven miniseries planned for the event is Before Watchmen: Nite Owl, written by J. Michael Straczynski with art by Andy and Joe Kubert. It will chronicle the early days of the ornithologically obsessed vigilante known as Nite Owl, aka Dan Dreiberg, who was one of the central figures from Moore’s original story.

Here is the Ozymandias #2 cover by Jae Lee. Ozymandias is written by Len Wein with art by Jae Lee.
The cover for Minutemen #3 has the spotlight on a Garbo-esque heroine called Silhouette. She might not make it to the end of the book alive, though. Minutemen #3 comes out this August.

Here's the final variant cover of Minutemen #1 by Mike Golden, on sale June 6th.

reek 5/15/2012 11:07:08 AM

More to the point Darth, How much does Alan Moore hate this idea?

jetpackjesus 5/15/2012 12:56:27 PM

Has there ever been an idea that Alan Moore doesn't hate, reek?

I'm not even sure that he likes his own stuff at this point.

BunyonSnipe 5/15/2012 2:18:13 PM

This is EXACTLY the reason he took LOEG away from DC!

eleventhirtyeight 5/15/2012 2:38:50 PM

I'm going to see alan moore doing a talk in a couple of weeks. Cant wait.

SmokingFrog77 5/15/2012 4:23:53 PM

It's bullshit that Alan Moore doesn't like ideas. The guy has just been so f*cked over by DC over the years that he's understandably bitter. Kurt Amacker, who used to write Comicscape here, recently interviewed Moore at length about Before Watchmen, the antics of DC, and his thoughts on modern comics. I don't agree with his derisive attitude towards mainstream Marvel and DC comics, but that's a matter of taste really, and I can see why he's so jaded.  And Before Watchmen is a shameless cash-in, nothing more.

vitieddie 5/15/2012 10:18:25 PM

Everything is more or less a cash-in now days ....

Alan Moore is one of the best though ... I keep seeing his work on the shelves ... DC Universe By Alan Moore etc ...

Dazzler 5/16/2012 4:21:12 AM

To me comics are ONGOING.  They should never stop.  It's a monthly read.  I don't get why AM does not understand that.  And if it's a money issue get an Atty.

joeybaloney 5/16/2012 6:31:23 AM

It is so not money issues with Moore

Hobbs 5/16/2012 12:48:17 PM

I'm guessing Alan Moore can't be too happy about this.
