Ben Kingsley is The Mandarin

According to Latino Review

According to a recent article in Latino Review, Sir Ben Kingsley is indeed playing The Mandarin. They are confirming it and state that this news is not coming from some "security guard". This is not the official word from Marvel though. Then again they wouldn’t confirm Tom Hiddleston in The Avengers and a billion dollars later we know how that turned out. Check out the full story here. Another little piece of casting emerged as well. William Sadler (Demon Knight, Shawshank Redemption) supposedly has been cast in the film. Yet, once again, neither Marvel nor Sadler’s reps will confirm.

Thanks to DarthBob for the submission.

Yes!!! This is great news! Finally the Mandarin! I wonder if Fing Fang Foom will do a Cameo, lol.

This seemed to be the most likely role when Kingsley was announced and I'm happy we will finally see the Mandarin on screen.  IM2 was pretty meh, but after Avengers and casting announcements, I'm looking forward to IM3.

IM2 is "meh" now? Did I miss the memo? I think Iron Man 2 is friggun SWEET!, I re-watch it on a semi-continuous loop on Netflix...

Idk, this is kinda dumb to have a clearly non-chinese actor playing a chinese villain called the "MANDARIN" for pete's sake!

I still think they should have cast Chow-Yun-Fat as the Mandarin, and kinda channel that chinese pirate captain he played in Pirates of the Caribbean!! He would be an awesome Mandarin!!

Was not a huge Ironman comic follower in the 80s or 90s so I have really no idea who Mandarin is. I take it this will be a good thing? Can someone make a comparison like Mandarin is Venom to Spiderman, Red Skull to Captain America, Magneto to the Xmen, Clown to Spawn, etc...?

Gauley, considering that IM2 is about the only halfway decent movie available on Netflix, your comment makes total sense!

Remembering Ben in Thunderbirds and Prince of Persia, I guess he'll be revisiting the same wardrobe from both films for this one. Unless he revisits his character as the Mandarin with the same bite he had in Sexy Beast, there'd be no point in watching for me.

Iceknight52: I would say the Mandarin is to Iron Man as Brainiac is to Superman. It's definitely one of his main arch-nemeses.

gauley, compared to the first IM, part 2 was meh IMO.  It had its moments but just wasn't as good to me.
