So even in alternate universes you disagree Tevii? I think the purpose of the alternate universes is to explore these changes, be it attitude, origin, race or what have you. This is what Marvel used to explore with their eXiles book, you could see all sorts of variations of their characters, including race, gender and powers. So I'm all for it and don't think it takes away from the other versions at all.

Btw I actually liked the Supreme Power Nighthawk, a gritty superhero ala Batman. Plus remember the original Nighthawk from the Squadron Supreme died fighting his own comrades in one of my favorite maxis ever. They're from alternate universes

I'm far more pissed about Nick Fury not being around in WWII to lead The Howling Commandos than I am about him being black.

First the KKK and now the CCC, don't these people have something better too do then be racist, or boycotting a  movie because of religious issues? The movies are a form of escapism from the problems of the real world. Especially movies based on comicbooks. I'll see Thor anyway because he was one of my favs when I was growing up. Also Cap and Iron Man. Plus I think Hopkins has Odin will give the film some class. I like just about anything he's been in. Even the Wolfman remake. I usually don't like remakes, but Hopkins and Del Toro gave the film some depth and dimension between the relationship between father and son. The original didn't, but it's a classic. I like the makeup of both Wolfmen. Rick Baker is one of my favs. I just wish the remake of the Planet of the Apes had lived up too the makeup effects. The storyline was awful. They should of had Walberg has the only talking human, in a loincloth. and all of the human females naked. The film would of made more money just on guys attending the movie. lol

Damn Sam. I guess he didn't get paid alot of money for his Smallville run.

I get what Tevii is saying.  I have but a few words, Wild, Wild West.  That movie sucked for one reason; they got the lead all wrong.  How stupid would White Panther sound?  What if Luke Cage were white?  His name would probably be Robert.  Subtle changes work, but a lot of what we are seeing is forced.  I'm in my mid-forties, so I grew up with these characters.  If the African American community isn't being served than characters that they can embrace and grow with need to be created and developed.  Don't just take an iconic character and say, "Well he/she is black now.  Or hispanic now."  It's pandering and it's offensive.  That being said, Samuel Jackson is really pulling of the Nick Fury thing, so I'm cool with it.  But as someone already said, I'd love to see him leading the Howling Commandos.  And John Stewart in the Justice League series was very well done.  No way they pull of the dynamic with Hawkgirl using Hal Jordan.

Still geeked about Green Hornet.

Don't know much about Jessica Jones which is exactly why I will watch it.

I know this is not on the agenda here, but as Smallville came up, i thought I'd just add, I've just seen the 2010 Scott Pilgrim Comic Con panel and now I kind of want to see Routh given another go as Superman...

Failing that, I'd want to see someone completely different, Daniel Cudmore...

Tevii-Why have a black president of the United States all of the other presidents have been white.  I see you r logic. Are there still people worshiping the Norse Gods or the Greeks or the Romans.  Perhaps you should start the church of Marvel and then you can claim that the execs at the movie company are commiting blasphemy.  See you on Fox news at the next tea party.

Just another thought here...NICK...FURY...ISN'T...BLACK...does nobody on here realize that they made him black in a WHOLE DIFFERENT UNIVERSE that is TOTALLY APART from regular Marvel continuity?  Don't worry, your caucasian, cigar-smoking, badass howling commando is still out there in the Classic Marvel universe, while the cool, slick, almost James Bond-ish African American version is in the Ultimate Marvel Universe.  It appears that the Marvel movies are their own universe entirely, taking from both Classic and Ultimate Marvels.  I swear, I doubt if anybody on here actually checks something out before they rant on it.

"I swear, I doubt if anybody on here actually checks something out before they rant on it."
You're right Caveman, sort of like you not checking this thread and seeing that I made that point already, irony :)

Oh, a WISEGUY, huh?  Glad I can prove the old adage that the best comedy writes itself.
