I saw it in 3D on Saturday, I thought that the animation and 3D was a bit distracting. I was a bit disappointed. The movie to see right now is the Coen brothers film, No Country For Old Men. That was a great film.

Didn't know that Beowulf opened, so was going to catch No Country for Old Men (or Lions for Lambs), but once got to the theater, changed the choice to Beowulf. Good popcorn movie, has its funny moments (some unintentionally).

Finally saw American Gangster this weekend. Very good movie. Denzel and Russell were both really good. Lucas was one ruthless bad ass, and Denzel really portrayed him as such. It was like Scarface except, Lucas never really got what he deserved at the end. Man, there were alot of corrupt cops in NYC in 60`s early 70`s. Sheesh.

I hope to get a chance to see Beowulf and American Gangster sometime this week. I did see Mr. Magorium's Wonder Emporium over the weekend. It was cute but I was not the audience for it.

I saw it in the regular theater and it was great. Kept having to shush some idiots in front of me because of the boobies. But I look forward to seeing it in 3d soon. B.o. did not seem too big but who cares with DVD and it's not a sequel type of movie anyway.

I heard that 2008 will be the year of the 3D resurgance where like half of the action movies will be in 3D. This is good because it helps cut back on the bootlegging. Although, I can imagine that DVD sales wont be as spectacular due to the fact that you can't experience 3D in your living rooms. Beowulf was awesome though and I'm looking forward to many more 3D experiences in the theatre.

Saw Beowulf in 3D and it was incredible. It's the first time in a long time that I heard people in the audience "oooooo"ing and "aaahhh"ing. The faces of the characters still seem fairly lifeless to me most of the time, but the motion capture technology is pretty incredible.

I had the misfortune of seeing Mr. Magorium's, too. The kids didn't even life it. What in the hell were Hoffman and Portman thinking when they read that script?

"Love in the Time of Cholera"...I remember that book from the movie Serendipity. I didn't realize it was a real book with a silly title like that. Anyone read it?

Not a fan of motion capture but it was pretty good, much better than Polar Express. The movie was good in my opinion and the 3D effects were awesome. If you get a chance to see it in 3D, do it.

I guess to do everything in CGI with no costumes, on-location expenses, etc. makes it quite a bit cheaper, but I'm just not a fan of this quasi-realistic look. I didn't find the story changes to be all that engaging but there were some fun moments.

I'm not saying it's a bad film - everyone has their opinion - but if it is hard for you to get past fake-looking faces (especially at the beginning) and occassional lumbering movements and horses that don't seem natural (which is funny since they used some technology that is supposed to mimic natural movement) then you might want to pass.

And someone feel free to explain to me, how that if you can't poke something with a sword, how does dropping the sword make it suddenly within bare-handed reach?
