BEVERLY HILLS COP IV Update

Last November, it was announced that another installment in the BEVERLY HILLS COP franchise would be hitting theaters sometime in the near future. No time tables were set and nothing much said afterwards. Now, producer (Lorenzo Di Bonaventura) has told Rotten Tomatoes what he wants of the next installment, titled BEVERLY HILLS COP IV. He wants it as a Rated R vehicle going back the "roots" of character Axel Foley.

"I think it's going to be a really interesting debate and it's one we're going to have for a while," said Di Bonaventura.

Of course, most of Murphy's real fans want him to go back to the good old days. "That's what I want. Will you guys call Paramount and tell them that? The studios says their research is telling them PG. I'm with you. I won't do it if it's PG-13."

Perhaps the fans clamoring for a "Cop IV" need to be more specific. "When you travel with Eddie, people constantly come up to him and go, 'When are you going to do Axel? When are you going to do Axel?' So I think there's a reason why Indiana Jones, there's a reason why these things come up is because the audience loves them that much that they're the ones that usually are informing us why we should do it."

I'd insult the third Beverly Hills Cop film right about now but Eddie Murphy has already insulted the film numerous times over the past decade himself. One can never know if a Rated R BEVERLY HILLS  COP IV is exactly the right ingredients for a new movie.

After being scammed by John Landis with BHC III, I am NOT seeing this one.

Well, I guess *somebody* needs to give Judge Reinhold something to do other than lie on the couch smoking pot.

Going R rated for a new Axel Foley adventure is definately the way to go. Moviegoers originally fell in love with Foley's foul-mouthed, no-nonsense attitude (and his foul-mouthed boss in Detroit).
Beverly Hills Cop III had none of the elements that made the first two movies successful... Hell, it didn't even have any comedy!
I can rattle off at least 15 memorable scenes from the first two flicks. There isn't even one scene that sticks in my mind from the third one.

Why not? Indiana Jones and John McClaine are coming back, so Axel Foley is the next logical step. I don't recall seeing Judge Reinhold since he did that Seinfeld episode. How about getting the director of 48 Hours to do it?

I kind of enjoyed the third one. it was stupid, no dobut,,,,,but the scene with Bronson Pnchot as Serge breaks me up no matter how many times I see it. And that was the only really funny part of the movie.

Since Eddie Murphy has stated how much he hated the 3rd one, I would think he would not allow that to happen again. Though, given the fact that his last few movies had terrible scripts, I wonder what he'd approve of. Is his kids grown up enough for him to return to the good ol' days? I hope so... but if it's not his decision, then someone tell Paramount to make this thing R.

Wait, I will... "PARAMOUNT, give the screenwriters the freedom to write Beverly Hills Cop 4 as an R rated film."

about freakin time. damn eddie. we need a make up for part 3. they need to find a way to bring Inspector Todd back somehow. everyone knows he had his moments that made the movie that much better. the minute his character died the movie went down for me; and what the hail is wonder world anyway..?

Way to go everyone. I was trying to forget that the third movie ever happened. I had for the past few years until this. Thanks a lot.
Hell, why not make a forth. I'm up for an R please, but I loved Die Hard 4 and it was just PG-13.

Wait a minute. Axel Foley was a foul-mouthed, no-nonsense cop?

Maybe Rambo, McClaine & Foley can all star in a movie after their respective 4th films come out. Maybe a time traveling action/adventure/comedy where they visit Dr. Jones. :)
I wish they would stop bringing back the 80s action films. I personally feel uncomfortable watching 50 year olds getting beat up on screen, but that's just me. Can't wait for Indy 4 though.
