INDIANA JONES: THE ULTIMATE GUIDE (Hardcover) - May 14, 2008 - 08:19am
I love these books from DK Publishing. I have the Star Wars ones, and all the Marvel, DC Comic ones, including both companies encyclopedia. I just order the Indiana Jones one, but there isn't an Iron Man one? They did a Ghost Rider, Catwoman, and Transformer Guide prior to the movies, but no Iron Man. I was really looking forward to it, but at least they did Indiana Jones. Now if DK can do an Alien, Predator and more comic book books I'll be happy.

Cage Set for BAD Remake - May 14, 2008 - 04:46am
How the hell do you remake this movie? BAD LIEUTENANT is one of the most disturbing films I've seen, and I could only watch it once (Henry:Portrait of a Serial Killer was another one). Is Nic Cage going to masterbate while forcing 2 teenage girls to show off their butts and show how they "suck c***" ? Are they going to have a violent rape of a nun? Or Nic Cage dancing naked while high on coke? I can already tell their going to completly change the story and character and it won't even look anything like BAD LIEUTENANT except in name only. After Ghost Rider I'll never see a Nic Cage movie again.

I WANT TO BELIEVE Trailer - May 13, 2008 - 08:41pm
Really didnt show anything that would pull in an audience, only fans of the show. I'll be seeing it, but I wish I knew what the hell was going on. And why does Mulder and Scully have to freeze their butts off AGAIN?

More CHIPMUNKS on the Way - May 13, 2008 - 08:38pm
I honestly didn't care to see this movie, but when my kids saw it, and I watched my 3 year old daughter singing and dancing to all the songs, I can't help but enjoy the movie. My kids loved it, so I'm glad to see a sequel.

Mumbling Kitsune: Go Speed Racer - May 12, 2008 - 09:37am
The big problem with Speed Racer is that its alienating the fans of the 60s series, such as myself, and making the film too long for kids to sit through. I was planning to take my son, who is 5 and loves cars, to see it, but for almost 3 hours, including commercials and trailers, I'll pass and wait for it on DVD so he can just fast foward to the racing stuff. Someone also mentioned Astro Boy, which will be a film BUT be a CGI movie similar to Pixar. But really, with Speed Racer and Dragonball in the works, do we really need to see Hollywood basterize classic Anime and Manga material? If they want to produce CGI film fine, as long as they work closely with the original Japanese creators. As for trying to make live action Anime, give up. You simply can't capture the spirit of an Anime or Manga unless the Japanese do it.

DEATH RACE Arrives Early - May 12, 2008 - 09:31am
Hmm..I didn't notice any mention of running down pedistrians for points. So really this isn't a remake but a film simply using the title of a classic film for marketing but having little to do with the original film. Will they have a classic scene like the hospital staff wheeling out old patients, and then our hero Carradine missing the old people and running down the hospital staff instead. Classic. Still, Statham is in the movie, which at least has my attention. And as long as its not as headache inducing, gravity defining CGI junk from Speed Racer, it could be good.

Verbinski Gets BIOSHOCK - May 10, 2008 - 04:00pm
I still think this is a bad idea already. The director of the Pirates movie? No thanks. Other posts I read says John Logan is a brillant writer, but I guess they didn't see Time Machine or Star Trek Nemesis, two of the worse movies I've seen (Starfleet has dune buggies? The Romulans clone Picard for really no reason? I won't even go into the problems and inconsistencies with Time Machine). And its by the studio that can't even do a Halo movie right. I can only imagine it'll have a lot of bullet time shots, emo rock music, set in the future and on another planet, and be dumbed down with a funny sidekick and be rated PG-13. Remember, this is Hollywood after all.

Fox is off to WAR - May 08, 2008 - 01:23am
Based on an original idea...from 1998. Seriously this could almost qualify for a lawsuit since the story is a little too similar to Small Soldiers (Family must defend themselves against toys that come to life). I can't see this as being good, considering they are basically saying its Night at the Mueseum except with toys. So really in a sense its ripping off TWO movies. Where is this "original idea" Mr. Gregg Suess? Maybe this is like the Clonus Horror/The Island incident, Suess woke up in the middle of the night and saw Small Soldier on the TV and thought he had a dream and came up with an "original idea". If you don't know what the Clones Horror/The Island incident is, its basically where Michael Bay and company ripped off an old 70s/80s film Part: The Clonus Horror and made The Island, practically copying scene for scene and claimed it was an original idea. Thanks in part to Mystery Science Theater 3000 for airing Parts, the makers of Parts sued and won a seven figure settlement.

Comicscape: I Am Iron Man - May 07, 2008 - 03:56pm
****************SPOILER*********************** Most likely with Samual Jackson in as Nick Fury, and Robert Downey, Jr. in the Hulk movie, most like we will be getting the Ultimate Avenger Movie, sometime in 2012-2015. First there will be Hulk, then Iron Man 2, which could be Iron Man vs. Hulk since Stark will be offering to assist Gen. Ross with his "problem". Then we will get Thor, Captain America, and finally the Avenger movie. That film will more than likely introduce Hank Pym, Wasp, and Hawkeye (Hopefully as a Black Ops agent than a purple clad archer). I just thought it was funny that Warner Bros., which owns all DC characters, can't even get a Justice League movie right, but here comes Marvel and plant the seeds for and Avenger movie. And who will be the villain for the Avenger movie? I have to say Ultron, since he was their biggest threat and probably the least silly or confusing (Kang anyone?).

TERMINATOR 4 is PG-13? - May 05, 2008 - 06:19am
Since this one will be set in the future and mostly be using lasers and cyborgs, I can see it being a PG-13 film. As long as theres no nudity and very little swearing (Because we know that stuff is worse than violence), it would work as a PG-13 film. Die Hard 4 was still a good movie as PG-13. The only genre that sucks as PG-13 is horror, since I can't even recall one horror film that did good as PG-13. The only thing going to hurt the Terminator film is the director of Charlie's Angels (Was that even a good movie?). He's just awful and another Brett Ratner.

IRON MAN - May 04, 2008 - 08:29pm
I truly enjoyed this movie, and I'm not even an Iron Man fan (I'm more of a Batman, Moon Knight, Punisher, Ghost Rider, Wolverine person). Not just Downey but the entire cast were perfect. The subtle hints of the Marvel Universe, the nods towards the sequals, and possibly the BEST entrance for a superhero (When the gold/red Iron Man first strikes. Amazing!). Not as solid as Batman Begins (Which I consider flawless until The Dark Knight comes out), but awesome nonetheless. And seriously, if you are a Marvel freak, stay for the end. You will absolutly freak out and jump around like a kid again. Oh and yes, I despised Ghost Rider the movie and DEMAND Marvel do a reboot on that film, get an unknown actor, and focus more on real villains like Deathwatch and Blackout.

Cohen Gives New Features for MUMMY 3 - May 01, 2008 - 10:09am
I'm actually looking forward to this one, as opposed to the dull sequal. Nice to see a different local, some good actors, and hopefully good action sequences similar to the first Mummy.

HULK Gets Angry in New Online Photos - Apr 30, 2008 - 04:04pm
I always prefered the Ultimate Hulk and Startling Stories: Banner version of the Hulk, that as a brute, destructive monster that actually killed people in his rampages, and in the case of the Ultimate Hulk, actually ATE PEOPLE!! The reason is that the Hulk represents the rage and anger in Bruce Banner, and in that rage he would kill people, and in turn cause grief and pain in Banner, who being a scientist and doctor was supposed to help and save people. My favorite scene in Banner was in which Bruce shot himself in the head, only to turn into the Hulk and prevent his death. Still, Marvel couldn't market a savage, violent creature to kids so they have to make him a hero and protector but misunderstood and hunted.
