Are you up to date with your scripture? If you're not, don't worry because a new adventure is coming to fill you in on it. Paramount Pictures and former Walden Media co-founder Cary Granat are reportedly developing In the Beginning, a 3D version of the creation story. David Cunningham is set to helm from a script by John Fusco (Hidalgo). The visual effects are being handled by Reel Fx. Paramount will co-finance and distribute the $30 million project.

Plot Concept: The film is using The Book of Genesis as its primary resource.

Is this liev action, animatio or CGI?  Except for the 3-D, if live action, wasn't this done back in 1966 with The Bible: In the Beginning directed by John Huston?

I'm willing to bet religious groups are funding this movie due to the movie Creation- I was wondering when something like this would come down the pike- rumbling around the net have been saying that Creation is an aeithiest version of passion of the christ.- based on how the book the origin of species was developed.

I'm not at all against this- I think if it were live action it would be an interesting film to watch- I am a believeer myself and wear a cross around my neck.

I've often wondered when a movie about the Creation would be made.  I think it will be really cool to see what they come up with visually for the creation of the sun and stars as well as Adam and Eve.  All we ever see in scientific shows is re-creations of the big bang and evolution.  Everyone has seen that many times.  It will be refreshing to see the other theory of the creation of the universe.  Although I wonder if they'll take a literal biblical approach or the Intelligent Design approach.  Even within the Christian community this will cause debate.  Which in my opinion is always good.  I tend to lean towards a more literal approach although I definitely don't believe it was 7, 24 hour days.

Will this be all of Genesis?  If so, seeing the stories of Noah and Moses will be particularly cool.  Whatever happened to that Noah film that was rumored to be made around the time Passion came out?  I still want to see that.  Guess Evan Almighty will just have to do for now.  =)

This does seem like an excellent idea for a Christian oriented movie. 3D creation would look great with some well done FX . This wouldn't be my cup of tea, though.  30 mil isn't alot compared to other event movies but like Calibur said this is probably being funded by conservative Christan groups.

I'm sure the story will be the strict Fundamentalist/6 days of creation version that Conservative Christian would prefer. They don't want too ruffle too many feathers.

Sooo....  It's going to be a science fiction/fantasy film then?

Regardless of what someone may believe, the Bible is full of amazing stories. I mean if you want a book filled with action, adventure, romance, horror, etc, it's hard to find a compendium of life and death stories more complete than the Bible. Lets be honest, how many hollywood films deal with subjects that haven't been addressed there. With what they can do with FX, I'm thinking the creation of the world could be amazing visual storytelling.
