Billie Piper Returns to DR. WHO

It looks like DR. WHO will have three assistants in the upcoming season of the famous British series. BBC reports that Billie Piper is set to return as character "Rose Tyler" for three episodes in the 2008 series. We last saw Piper playing the character last year before getting transported to a parallel universe . Due to the character's popularity, the producers had planned to focus a spin-off on her character but it was deemed "a spin-off too far" by executive producer Russell Davies. Instead, the character will be coming back to join other assistants Donna (Catherine Tate) and Martha (Freema Agyeman).

The plan is to air a new season in 2008 and then take a year off. Instead, they will air 3 "specials" in 2009 before debuting the following season in 2010.

Big thanks to Scooper KingVoyeur for passing this along.

Rose was one of the best companions in the entire history of Doctor Who. This is terrific news.

Dazzler, there's no strike in the UK. David Tennant decided to take off most of the year so he can do stage work with the RSC (Royal Shakespeare Company).

Great news about Rose returning. Too bad they didn't give her the spinoff series, though I can see why they would think that would have been pushing too hard having just launched the Torchwood spinoff.

No no no no no!

For being the savior, Russell T. Davies just keeps finding new ways of making me scream for his head right now.

There's no reason whatsoever for Piper to return. She's gone, move on and quit looking back, dammit.

Couldn't make me happier!
Why not a spin-off of her?

What about her soft-porn series that just started? I just saw the first episode here in Canada last week... interesting stuff... very graphic... Will she keep doing bother series?

You know, I've always had a deep respect for the Doctor cavorting with those sexy companions throughout time and space. But
now?!! Three babes in the TARDIS?!! Doc,
YOU ARE THE MAN!
